Verizon is on course to launch another batch of powerful Android smartphones. No less than three high-end Motorola droid just leaked, along with the HTC Incredible 2 leaked today, confirming that the Verizon iPhone 4 hasn’t quenched the carrier’s thirst for smartphones.
Motorola DROID X2 and DROID 3
Motorola is obviously pretty keen to find strengthen its positions in the US market. It’s got the DROID X2 and DROID 3 in the pipeline, plus the LTE-capable Targa.
For those of you who haven’t heard of Staples – it’s one of the biggest stores for office equipment in the world. And they seem to be awaiting new additions to their tablet line-up from Samsung, HTC, Dell, Acer, Toshiba and HP. All of them labeled as “Coming Soon”.

The official iPad 2 announcement is drawing close (6PM London time) but that’s not stopping last-minute leaks. We already eyed up the supposed leaked photos of the second-generation iPad and now apparently Amazon Germany jumped the gun and (accidentally!) put their iPad 2 listing out in the open.

Reportedly, a Samsung spokesperson contacted a Korean news outlet informing them Samsung will release a 8.9-inch Android tablet in the first half of the year. Following the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the manufacturer is about to unveil a smaller tablet, but still one that’s bigger than the original Galaxy Tab.

What do you know, it turns out that Windows 8 may be surprisingly close – a leaked roadmap has led to speculation that Windows 8 (codenamed Windows Next) could turn up in beta form at Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in September.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the second generation of the Apple iPad has now entered production. This means that the iPad 2 will be ready to ship the end of February. Last year we had to wait till April to get it.
WSJ also suggests that the fancy ultra high-resolution screen we’ve been having dreams about won’t make it to the new Apple iPad 2. Instead, the current screen with resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels will be used. Read more »
Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play has just got its first official ad… via unofficial channels. As everything else about the PSP phone, this video is another leak surfaced quite ahead of the official premiere on 13 February.
If Sony Ericsson is really concerned about keeping its secrets safe, perhaps it should put a bit more effort into keeping these stuff for itself. Don’t get us wrong, we’re not complaining. Everybody likes to have a sneak peek at things ahead of the official announcement.
With all those Tegra 2 headlines becoming the hottest news around we were beginning to wonder when HTC would finally step up and announce a dual-core device of their own. As it just so happens information about such a handset has leaked today and it looks bound for T-Mobile USA for now.
A 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU is big news and the fact that it’s being associated with a line of Snapdragons, announced last summer, you can bet my geek-o-meter hit the roof.
It wasn’t too long ago that Facebook denied any interest in creating its own smartphone and yet here we have another rumor of the development of one. Apparently one of the Boy Genius Report readers was a part of the focus group for the upcoming device. And then there’s this other report that HTC will be revealing two Facebook-branded hadnsets at the MWC.
According to City AM HTC will be revealing a couple of Android handsets carrying the Facebook logo. They will be high-end devices with specially modified interface, that will bring the Facebook integration to a new level. Using your friends profile data to write an email or call them is among the rumored features.
Update: Facebook has just issued another public statement, denying they are working on such phones. They did confirm that HTC are making use of some new API to extend the Facebook integration in their upcoming smartphones. Those devices won’t be carrying the blue F logo, though. Read more »
Palm and their webOS were expected to be the next big thing in smartphones, but unfortunately the company ran out of money before it managed to make an impact. However now that they have the backing of HP there is every chance that the excellent OS will get the chance to prove its worth in the tablet world.
Some photos of the upcoming HP Topaz tablet leaked, along with the detailed specs sheet and it all looks pretty promising. Built around the Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon platform, featuring two Scorpion cores running at 1.2 GHz and the new Adreno 220 GPU, the Topaz will have all the computing power it needs to run webOS on the 9.7” XGA (1024 x 768 pixels) screen. A product roadmap of the Tegra family of processors leaked today and it shows what NVIDIA holds for the near future. We are already familiar with the Tegra 2 SoC but we are yet to see how the latest LG and Motorola smartphones benefit from this raging beast inside them.
What’s more interesting though are the new processors that NVIDIA holds for the future. This leaked roadmap (that is supposed to be announced at the MWC 2011) shows the improved dual-core Tegra 2 3D and the quad-core animal – Tegra 3. Read more »
