BlackBerry Passport gets endorsed by NBA’s Toronto Raptors GM

BlackBerry Passport is surely an interesting smartphone. It has a square display, a hardware QWERTY keyboard, top-notch hardware and a 13MP camera with OIS. The company’s new flagship has been a massive success for the struggling manufacturer, going twice out of stock and its interest is growing even though the Passport is not backed up by an aggressive marketing campaign.

BBM gets Timed Messages and Message Retraction across platforms

BlackBerry’s Messenger app has received an update today, which brings with it two new features. Timed Messages allows you to set a timer when sending a message. When that expires, the message you sent will disappear from the BBM chat.

With Message Retraction, you can ‘take back’ something you sent – after the fact. The message disappears from the chat for the person you sent it to as soon as you retract it. Read more »

Canadian manufacturer BlackBerry has been hard at work trying to get back in the black. Its latest BlackBerry Passport flagship is an unconventional offering, and could be just crazy enough to work.

BlackBerry takes a jab at the Blackphone, its maker strikes back

Feeling the pressure from losing ground under its feet, BlackBerry is no stranger to publicly attacking the competition. Following the jab at the Android KNOX security feature, BlackBerry has set its aim at the new smartphone maker behind the security-oriented Blackphone. On one of its official blogs, the Canadian phonemaker states that the Android-powered Blackphone is “inadequate for business”.

But Toby Weir-Jones, chief executive of SGP Technologies, maker of the Blackphone handset wouldn’t have any of this and retaliated with a blog post hitting BlackBerry where it hurts most. Read more »

Angry Birds Seasons goes to South HAMerica with latest update

It was apparently time for Angry Birds Seasons to get yet another update. This time, Rovio added 24 new levels to its insanely popular game. These take you on a trip to South HAMerica, where your mission is, as always, to stop those pesky pigs.

There are even three bonus levels inside, and everything is packed with relics, artifacts, ancient statues, and rope bridges – all making for a pretty exotic twist to the game. Read more »

Temple run scores 1 billion downloads

Imangi studios, the developer behind the super popular endless runner series Temple Run, had a cool milestone to share today. Its titles have reached 1 billion downloads across the platforms where they are available.

The company includes both versions of Temple Run in the number, but not the Disney spin-offs Brave and Oz. All games are available on what are currently the top three smartphone platforms – Android, iOS and Windows Phone. Some of the titles also have BlackBerry 10 and Windows RT versions. Read more »

BBM 2.0 for iOS and Android brings a host of new features

BlackBerry announced that a major update is coming to BBM for iOS and Android. Version 2.0 of the popular adds a host of new features to the popular messenger, headed by voice calling.

Blackberry Messenger, or, BBM as the cool kids call it, received a warm reception when it was initially for Android, raking in over 10 million downloads within its first 24 hours.

BlackBerry has now a few new BBM features available on the Android version of their application: specifically Voice Calling and Channels.
