Nokia made its HERE Maps apps for Windows 8.1 available all around the world earlier today. As part of the wider release, the company has also included a bunch of cool updates to the app.

India’s largest e-commerce company, Flipkart, boasted that it has raised a new funding of $1 billion. Flipkart says this is the largest venture investment to be received by an Indian internet-based business.

Apple rumored to update the 15-inch MacBook Pro with a faster Haswell CPU

A new photo purportedly snapped at the Apple’s Chongqing store in China suggests the 15-inch MacBook Pro is destined to receive a small specs bump. More specifically, Apple is planning to pimp the laptop with a faster Haswell processor as well as 16GB of RAM as standard.

The good news is that the pricing won’t be affected with current prices of the laptop remaining intact. As you’d expect the 15-inch MacBook Pro will retain its three main configurations. Read more »

Nokia has set up an interesting project to promote the Lumia 930 in the UK. What seems to be a product of a joint meeting with Greenpeace is actually a giant wall made of potatoes and apples. Why? To charge up a phone.

Samsung airs an inspiration surfing ad spot, the Galaxy S5 chills on the beach

Samsung’s marketing team is probably large enough to populate the Allure of the Seas ocean cruise ship and its members certainly don’t lack inspiration. None of ads we’ve seen recently, however, comes close to company’s promo spot for the Association of Surfing Professionals, which it is sponsoring.

The product per second ratio is pretty low compared to the standard norm of Samsung ad spots, but that’s intentional, as the video’s mission is to inspire you. The Bang by Coloud is the Nokia Lumia 530 affordable companion speaker

Alongside the Nokia Lumia 530, the company also unveiled a cool portable speaker that carries the 530′s budget-oriented spirit. Dubbed the Bang by Coloud, the speaker costs just €19 and you can connect it just by a 3.5mm audio cable.

Google Play Store boasts more downloads than the Apple App Store, but not as much revenue

AppAnnie is a mobile application statistics aggregation company and it has published a report on how Android and iOS apps have been doing in Q2 of this year. Both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store did great for the quarter, besting their results in Q1 by 60% and 45%, respectively.

That gave the Google Play Store, nearly 50% more downloads compared to the iOS App Store. It terms of revenue, however, it’s the Apple repository that still comes ahead. Read more »

AMD reports dissatisfying Q2 financial results due to debt

AMD reported less-than-expected second quarter results with a net loss of $36 million, despite an increase in quarterly revenue. AMD made $1,44 billion for Q2, 24% more than it did for the same period in 2013.

Because of the net loss, AMD’s stock fell 15%. The company also reported that revenue from its Computing Solutions Group dropped 20% from a year ago, to $669 million. Read more »

The Nokia Lumia 930 is starring in a new advertisement accenting in its wireless charging capabilities. The ad is posted by the UK branch of the company and displays the Lumia 930 in various environments doing its wireless charging thing with the DC-50 portable wireless charger.
