Google Wallet has been updated with several nice features. One of them is the option to set up a recurring bank transfer to automatically add funds to your Wallet account.
You can set up the recurring bank transfer on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis and cancel it any time. Google says that there are no fees or minimum balance requirements for the automatic transfer. If your balance gets low, you can set an alert to remind you to add funds. Read more »
IDC has outed a tablet market report for Q3 2014 and it’s good news for manufacturers as the market has soared 11.5% compared for the same period last year. Global tablet shipments reached 53.8 million as competitive back-to-school promotions and strong interest in the US have driven shipments upwards.
IDC notes that Verizon’s winning tablet strategy is to sell LTE-enabled slates, which in the US are sought after. The upcoming Black Friday sales are also anticipated to result in even larger tablet sales. In the US the market growth is a bit stronger compared to the global one and has gone 18.5% year-over-year. LG Display has made a 5.3″ LCD panel with a bezel of just 0.7mm. The display of 1080p resolution sports a pixel density of 415ppi.
To put it into perspective, the left and right sides of the panel are thinner than the 0.8mm thickness of a credit card. In order to pull this off, the company uses its “Neo Edge” module processing technology as well as the first “Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT)” technology. Read more »
Google released a Project Ara update video announcing the second developer conference for the platform will take place on January 14. There, registered developers will discus the Ara MDK 0.20 as well as have access to early modules and prototypes.

Lenovo has revealed its first wearable product, the Smartband SW-B100. While its name isn’t inspiring, the smartband is capable of doing some helpful things for you. It tracks your daily exercise, heart rate and sleep in addition to displaying notifications to suit your personal and work time.

Via its official Weibo account, Meizu is gathering 5000 beta testers with MX2 and MX3 smartphones to run a beta build of Flyme 4.0.

Microsoft is enabling Kinect owners to use it with Windows by launching today a special adapter for PCs. It makes the Kinect fully compatible with WIndows 8 and Windows 8.1 PCs and tablets with identical performance to the Xbox One.
The new Kinect adapter only works with the newly announced Kinect SDK 2.0. It allows developers to create third-party apps for the Kinect and upload them to the Windows Store. The Tizen Association has added 16 additional partners to its list making the list grow to more than 100 members. The announcement came at the Tizen Developer Summit in Shanghai that’s taking place today.

Thanks to the hard work of very talented developers over at the XDA-Developers community, the LG Nexus 4 has received Android 5.0 Lollipop earlier than Google is rolling it out officially. In addition, you can now get all of the Google apps with the updated looks on your own phone.
However, only rooted users may apply and the apps won’t work on all smartphones. Currently, the latest Material Design Google apps that are available as downloadable .apk files include Play Music, Play Books, Keep, Calendar, Gmail, Drive, Maps, Messenger and Fit. Read more »
