Here’s what happens when you shoot a Galaxy S6 edge with a Desert Eagle

by 104 comments

Well, frankly, we all know the answer to this one. And yet, there is still something weirdly satisfying about witnessing a high-end device undergo creative carnage and destruction. This is undoubtedly why stress test videos have really been getting absurd recently.

Needless to say a slick curved phone with a glass finish has practically no chance of surviving even most air gun shots. Still, the guys over at dbrand really didn’t want to leave anything to chance and opted for a .50 AE Desert Eagle. Both are legendary for being extremely high-powered and, but the S6 was simply blown away (apologies for the bad pun there). Read more »

Remember photographer Murad Osmann‘s viral series of photos where he follows his girlfriend to exotic locations around the world? Well, now you can do the same single-handedly without a significant other, thanks to the Selfie arm.

It’s a new concept, still in the design phase and is strong on sarcasm. In a bid to have us rethink social media, artists Aric Snee and Justin Crowe have presented a product which creates the illusion of having a person right there with you taking that shot instead of your lone self. Read more »

Instead of an Apple Watch review

by 53 comments

Each ring of the doorbell sends our editorial staff running to the door with screams “The Apple Watch is here!” I don’t have the heart to tell them the shipping estimate is for mid-May even though we hit the buy button mere seconds after pre-order started.

While the two unladen swallows fly the Apple Watch to our office all the way from Cupertino, we got our resident Jony Ive impersonator to help us relive the thrill of the unveiling event. Read more »

Audiophiles, or anyone who has visited a THX-certified cinema hall, would be acutely aware of the grandiloquent THX Deep Note track that plays before every movie, a crescendo sound that announces the presence of THX certification for that cinema hall.

The original tone was created by Dr. James A. Moorer back when he was at Lucasfilm, creators of THX. 30 years since then, the company has unleashed the updated version of the tone, which is louder and more emphatic than ever before. Read more »

The OS is also forwards compatible, so you can run Windows Phone apps as well, although pretty sure MS-DOS had more apps than Windows Phone does. Read more »

‘Tales from the Borderlands’ for iOS and Android game review

by 94 comments

Borderlands is a series of first person shooters with a role playing element for consoles and PC. The original game spawned a sequel and then a pre-sequel, that fit between the first two games.

Tales from the Borderlands is nothing like those games. It is made by Telltale Games, the same studio that made games like The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, and most recently, the Game of Thrones. Tales from the Borderlands uses characters from the Borderlands universe but places them in a new setting. Let’s take a closer look at it. Read more »

Here are the 25 mobile phones this mobile editor has owned through the years [EDITORIAL]

by 213 comments

I was recently cleaning up my old room at my parents’ and I happened to find my first ever mobile phone – the Nokia 3210. It brought back many memories. It was a reminder of a completely different time, where the phones were not the tools we are used to play with today.

I was in high school, just a 15-years old kid, when my father told me it was about time I got a mobile phone of my own. It was the best day in my life as I thought back then. My mother already had a Benefon Dragon, while my father was very happy with his Sony CMD J70. But guess what I wanted…A Nokia 3310. Read more »

by 89 comments

Apple’s Spring forward press event is now behind us and while the launch of the Apple Watch was expected, its pricing still managed to surprise some. Whether it’s justifiable has already proven a pointless discussion, so we’ll steer clear from it for the time being.

What’s undeniable though, is that Cupertino’s Watch has become an abundant source of mockery material to industry competitors. Read more »
