It seems like September will be a month to remember, as now Amazon.com have added themselves to the list of companies set to announce a new product.

The retail giant hasn’t officially confirmed what it will be announcing, but we are most likely getting a sequel of its highly successful Kindle Fire tablet, which was announced last September. Read more »

A tipster just sent us some really interesting gossip – Samsung is working on a Galaxy S III-based point-and-shoot camera. The convergence device – called Samsung Galaxy S camera – features the trademark 4.8″ SuperAMOLED screen and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (no info on the chipset though).

Samsung has just released a video showing several glimpses of what is most likely a new Windows 8-powered notebook.

Asus-made Google Nexus 7 tablet isn’t doing too good a job at sneaking quietly around Europe after its official UK launch. First, Asus themselves broke its cover by posting on their Asus Italy Facebook page that the 16GB version will launch in early September at €250. Now, the Jelly Bean tablet has been spotted in France and Germany too.

French site Fnac is already taking pre-orders for the Nexus 7 and it seems that Asus is setting up a corner in a Berlin store. Oddly, all sightings so far have been of the 16GB version. Read more »

Recently a DLNA certification revealed that the Sony Xperia LT30i ‘Mint’ will be called Xperia T. Now, XperiaBlog reports that the Sony Xperia LT29i ‘Hayabusa’ will go by the name Xperia TX. The close naming of the two phones makes sense, considering how similar their specs are. Plus, the Hayabusa has already launched in Japan as the Xperia GX.

An Xperia Tablet is also laying in wait in the rumor mill, though some EXIF info from a photo uploaded to Picasa reveals that won’t be it’s final name either. Read more »

We’ve heard a wide variety of sources claim that the upcoming iPhone will feature a larger display, and today we can add one more to the list.

When put through an iOS simulator at a resolution of 1136 x 640 (the rumored resolution of the iPhone 5), many iOS 6 apps scale perfectly to the new size, revealing interfaces which have been tweaked and optimized for the different aspect ratio. Read more »

The term “Metro”, describing Microsoft’s new user interface design gained popularity starting with Windows Phone 7 after its Zune HD beginnings. It really grew into prominence when it became the UI style for Windows 8 and now, not long before its scheduled late October launch date, Microsoft renamed it.

A leaked memo was the first sign that the name “Metro” is on the way out, supposedly due to copyright concerns. “Windows 8 style interface” was suggested as a replacement, but Microsoft may have settled on a simpler name. Read more »

It turns out that, along with the usual spat over current and past products, the legal battle between Apple and Samsung can also offer a look at future releases as well. An upcoming Samsung tablet with the rather unusual screen size of 11.8″ has been revealed in court papers from the Apple v. Samsung trial in California.

Codenamed P10, the slate is listed as having the ‘retina’ moniker deserving resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Read more »

The BlackBerry PlayBook never gained the popularity that RIM was hoping for and rumors of a bigger 10″ version fizzled out. Vietnamese blog Tinhte however, received photos of just that – a 10″ PlayBook – right next to a PlayBook 4G (Sprint had plans to offer these but then canceled).

Mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras are on the rise as of late but one key player was yet to make an appearance in that market. But that might be about to change as an image leak shows an unannounced Canon mirrorless digital camera, that goes by the name EOS M.

By the looks of it the EOS M features a new EF-M lens mount and comes with a wide and bright 22mm f/2 STM (Stepper Motor) pancake lens. Read more »

So HTC is definitely not out of the tablet race just yet. Shortly after a spokesperson from the Taiwanese company confirmed HTC’s intent of bringing a new slate to the UK soon, we now have the first actual proof of its existence.

The tablet is apparently going to be called the HTC Vertex and it’s going to be powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 chipset. The screen of the Android ICS-running slate is of yet unknown size, but we know it’s going to have a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Read more »

HTC was among the first Android manufacturers that entered the tablet game, announcing the Flyer back in February 2011. The pen-supporting slate couldn’t quite live up to its high price tag though, and it never really became a best seller. A year and a half later the only other attempt at a tablet by the Taiwanese company was the AT&T-exclusive Jetstream in September and it did even worse, so we suspected HTC might have given up on that market.

Luckily, this isn’t the case as a spokesperson of the company confirmed in front of PC advisor that HTC is working on another tablet. There were no specifics given (understandable, since there’s no official announcement yet), but we know it’s ‘definitely’ coming, which is something. Read more »
