ASUS rep confirms upcoming Nexus 7 tablet by end of June

An ASUS representative at the Computex trade show in Taipei has confirmed that the first Nexus tablet from Google will be produced by ASUS, and will be unveiled before the end of June.

There are unconfirmed reports circling the web saying that Facebook is aimed at buying face recognition company Face.com for between $80 and $100 million.

Microsoft to allegedly release iOS and Android version of Office in November

Rumors have been flying around about a version of Microsoft Office for the iOS for a while now but now BGR is reporting that not only will there be a version of Office for iOS but also for Android and both will be launching together in November.

This information comes from one of their sources who has seen the application running on an iPad and says that it looks identical to the one we have seen before. After that image first came out, Microsoft later said that the screenshot in the picture was fake but The Daily, who leaked the screenshot, said it was authentic and that it was someone from Microsoft who demoed it to them. Apple to drop Google Maps in iOS 6 in favor of in-house Maps with cool 3D mode

iOS 6 will reportedly ditch its current version of Maps with Google-driven data at the backend in favor of its own in-house Maps module. While this is not shocking at all, what 9to5Mac sources report is that the app will also feature a breathtaking 3D mode.

Featuring a similar design to the current Maps application, the substitute one is said to be faster, cleaner and hopefully will provide a more reliable user experience. Read more »

Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and Galaxy Note 10.1 to get quad-core processors

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2′s has been delayed, reportedly to do a little extra work on the software. But a new rumor has cropped up saying that the real reason is a hardware one – namely Samsung wants to put a quad-core processor inside the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 (no info about on the Tab 2 7.0).

It won’t be the first time Samsung has reworked a tablet just before its launch – it happened to the original Tab 10.1. The already manufactured Tab 10.1 models were sold as “10.1v”, so maybe we’ll see something similar with the Tab 2 10.1 and the Note 10.1, depending on how many of those are already made. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 appears on Office Depot shortly, priced at $399

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 should have been out by now, but Samsung recently decided to push back the launch to the end of this month. Pricing for the 10.1″ Ice Cream Sandwich tablet was never announced, but Office Depot may have let the cat out of the bag.

It has since been pulled down, but Office Depot put a $399 price tag on the 8GB model, which is a pretty low price for a new 10″ tablet. Read more »
