Nokia Lumia 925 ad looks virtually identical to the Lumia 928 promo

by 43 comments

Nokia put out a new ad for the Lumia 925 in the UK and it looks very, very similar to the Lumia 928 ad we saw some time ago. Seriously, it includes most of the same shots, even though the phones aren’t exactly identical.

Both phones boast great low-light photography thanks to their Optical Image Stabilization and optimized sensors. Still, the 928 has xenon flash, which the Lumia 925 does not. Read more »

Nokia Wireless Charging Plate and Fatboy Pillow review

by 30 comments

Nokia was among the first manufacturers to include Wireless Charging tech into its smartphones and has a rather cool line of Wireless Charging accessories. We have two of them here at HQ and they work together nicely to carry out their out-the-way no-wires-needed assignments with style.

The Wireless Charging Plate and Fatboy-made Wireless Charging Pillow go very well together. The Wireless Charging Plate is the soul of the operation but it you want to encompass your handset in a lavish pillow you can put the plate inside the Wireless Charging Pillow and just drop the phone on it without worrying it will get scuffed or scratched. Nokia puts 200 Lumia 820 units together to make an impressive video wall

by 21 comments

Nokia may have just snatched a Guinness record away from Sony – for the video wall made up of most smartphones. Using 200 Nokia Lumia 820 phones, Nokia Developer Champion Rudy Huyn created the installation and showcased it at the Microsoft BUILD conference. Sony’s wall was made up of 196 Xperia ZL phones.

The phones were arranged in 8 rows of 25 phones and were all controlled from a single Lumia phone. Together, they showed an animated display of live tiles for a selection of Windows Phone apps and also an interactive map with Bing Maps. Read more »

Microsoft’s BUILD conference has started, watch the livestream here

by 11 comments

It’s been a busy month and it’s not over yet – Microsoft is kicking off its BUILD conference to talk about the future of Windows, Windows Server, Windows Azure, Visual Studio, and more. It should come as no surprise that Windows 8.1 will be a hot topic at the conference but there will be some Windows Phone talk too (about app development, not new features and certainly no GDR3 update).

The Day 1 keynote is minutes away from starting and you can watch it after the break. Read more »

Windows Store glitch allows non-Lumia smartphones to download Nokia-exclusive apps

by 29 comments

Unquestionably, the exclusive apps are part of the charm of the Nokia smartphones, over their WP8 competitors. As you would imagine apps such as Nokia Drive, Nokia Here Maps and Nokia Music are unavailable for owners of non-Nokia smartphones running Microsoft’s OS. Up until now.

WPDang has found a simple exploit giving users access to all Nokia WP8 applications in the Microsoft Windows Store. Read more »

Latest Nokia Lumia 925 ad shows an iPhone 5 turning people into flash zombies

by 103 comments

The recently released Nokia Lumia 925, which is basically a Lumia 920 in a new thinner and lighter shell, but also a supposedly improved camera lens. The last bit is probably why Nokia chose to focus on the imaging capabilities of its new flagship in its latest ad video.

Featuring a bunch of zombies, we have to admit the promo clip is quite cool. Read more »

Nokia EOS unibody leaks again, this time in yellow

by 23 comments

Another day, another Nokia EOS leak. The body of the upcoming super phone from the Finns has leaked in a multitude of colors, and this time around it’s yellow. The large circular hole where the 41MP camera should go shows some of the internal structure of the EOS, but unfortunately there’s no camera.

By the way, the body seems to have been photographed on the exact same surface as the one from yesterday’s leak. This image doesn’t definitively resolve the question “polycarbonate or aluminum”, but along with the number of colors we have seen seems to weigh in favor of polycarbonate. Read more »

White polycarbonate body for the Nokia EOS photographed

by 74 comments

Aluminum or polycarbonate? It seems that Nokia can’t make up its mind – or the info from various tipsters is unreliable – as the Nokia EOS bodies out of both materials have been photographed.

The yet unannounced 41MP sharpshooter has leaked in Black, Red, Yellow, Silver and now in White too, except there’s no consensus of the unibody’s material. Read more »
