Popular navigation app CoPilot has made its debut on Windows Phone 8 in both free and premium versions.

Nokia Hong Kong thinks iOS 7 looks pretty close to its beloved Windows Phone

Windows Phone pioneered the flat UI on mobile and the new iOS 7 look shares a lot of similarities – at least whoever maintains the Nokia Hong Kong’s Weibo account thinks so. They created this image and challenged users to pick which side is WP8 and which side is iOS 7.

Over 80% of Windows Phone devices made by Nokia

The latest report from Adduplex reveals that as of May 2013, some 80.2% of global Windows Phone devices are made by Nokia.

The bulk of the shares come at the expense of Samsung, who has largely moved away from Windows Phone in the past several quarters. Read more »

Windows Phone 8 Blue screenshots show early version of a notification center

A reddit user managed to stumble upon a developer unit of the Nokia Lumia 920 that he purchased from eBay. Much to his surprise, however, he found several features not found on the existing version of Windows Phone 8 and something Microsoft may have been saving for later.

Chief among these discoveries is an early version of a notification center. Microsoft has admitted previously to not being able to include a notification center in Windows Phone 8 because it ran out of time but you could expect to see it in the next major version and what you see above could be it. While preparing the full review of the Nokia Lumia 928, we were quite curious what its Xenon flash is capable of. We had a Samsung Galaxy S4 around so we decided to do an impromptu shootout in low light conditions. We’ve prepared a set of samples from both devices for you to see, both with and without flash under the same conditions.

The entire marketing blitz surrounding the Nokia Lumia 928 has been built around its camera’s low light prowess. The samples we are about to show you now are not about that (or at least, not entirely).

Nokia Conference beta app gets updated, makes it easier for Lumia-packing business people to join calls

Windows Phone aims to be business friendly and it’s apps like Nokia Conference that make it so. The app is still in beta, but it’s getting closer to proper release – it’s currently at v0.9.5. The app takes out the hassle of joining a conference call, on a WP8-running Lumia it’s as easy as saying “conference join.”

The phone will figure out what call it needs to join based on your schedule. With the latest update, the app can handle recurring calls too, not just ones you got an invite for. Conference also integrates with Microsoft Lync and will launch the app automatically if your company uses it. Read more »

ASUS unveils Transformer Book Trio, VivoPC and VivoMouse

ASUS has officially announced its Transformer Book Trio at the on-going Computex 2013. The ASUS Transformer Book Trio is a three-in-one mobile device, which dual-boots Windows 8 and Android and aims to give you a netbook, a tablet and a Windows 8 desktop PC in one device.

The Transformer Book Trio sports an 11.6-inch detachable display and the PC Station dock has an Intel Core i7 processor, keyboard and a 750 GB hard drive. The tablet display can be detached and the main part can be hooked to an external display to use as a desktop PC. Read more »

The Nokia Lumia 928 is Verizon’s long awaited top shelf Windows Phone 8 smartphone by the Finnish company. The LTE handset is also the first member of the Nokia Lumia family to feature a xenon flash.

Nokia Lumia 925 and 920 get screens, low-light shooting prowess compared

Bloggers from WinP.cn have gotten hold of a Nokia Lumia 925 and did a quick low-light shootout with its predecessor, the Lumia 920. They also checked the differences between the screens of the two (the 925 uses the new AMOLED screen, while the 920 has an IPS LCD).

Reportedly, the Lumia 925 offers sharper images with better white balance and less glare. Part of that is due to the new lens design – a 6 element lens for the 925 versus a 5 element lens for the 920. Shutter lag has also been reduced. Read more »

Rayman Jungle Run now available on Windows Phone 8

One of the best mobile games on the market has now made its way to the Windows Phone platform. Ubisoft has released a version of Rayman Jungle Run for Windows Phone 8, which is now available on the store for $2.99.

We reviewed the game when it was first released on iOS and Android last year and found it to be absolutely phenomenal in every possible way. The game has challenging but incredibly exciting gameplay and combines it with gorgeous visuals and a peppy soundtrack. If you’re a Windows Phone 8 users and were feeling a bit left out of the action, this game will surely keep you busy for a while. Read more »

Microsoft pits the Lumia 920 camera against the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S III

If you ever stumbled upon the recently created Windows Phone tumblr blog, you’d have notice a smattering of amusing GIFs comparing the quality of the Lumia 920′s low light images against those of the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S III.

Now, they have released a video that shows the three phones placed side by side, shooting the same bizarre scene all at the same time and then the results are provided for you to see. As you can guess, the Lumia 920 comes out on top with a significantly brighter image, with the iPhone 5 a distant second and the Galaxy S III in the last. Read more »
