Samsung adds a stylus slot on the Galaxy Note 10.1

The Galaxy Note 10.1 has gone through yet another revision. This time, Samsung has added a slot on the side to hold the stylus – or the S Pen as they call it – when it is not being used.

Samsung had to slim down the stylus so that it could take up less place on the side but will be offering an S Pen Holder Kit, which has a much thicker form factor that should be a lot easier to use. Read more »

A benchmark confirms quad-core CPU and new Mali T-604 GPU for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

A result for the Basemark ES 2.0 Taiji reveals new processor and graphic core for the upcoming Galaxy Note 10.1. This is another confirmation of Samsung’s last minute change of heart and the switch to a quad-core chipset for the Note tablet.

According to the leak, the model number is the same as the previous dual-core Note 10.1, but the chipset is different – Exynos 4412 with a quad-core 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. Read more »

Tizen is now officially into its version 1.0 era and development has been going great. However, when it becomes available for everyone to use, it probably won’t have 500,000 apps at its disposal.

Apple renames iPad Wi-Fi + 4G to iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular in certain regions following complaints

Apple has changed the nomenclature for the new iPad in select markets from the iPad Wi-Fi + 4G to a more vague iPad W-Fi + Cellular. This is due to customer complaints regarding the use of the term “4G” after the launch of the new iPad a couple of months ago.

Recently, Apple was sued in Australia because they referred to it as iPad Wi-Fi + 4G, even though the 4G LTE functionality does not work on Australia’s LTE network. Read more »

Toshiba Excite 10 now available for a penny under $450

As of now, $449.99 can get you a 16 GB 10.1″ Toshiba Excite Wi-Fi from the ToshibaDirect store. The 32 GB and 64 GB versions will be available later on for $529 and $649 respectively.

With all the Galaxy S III hullabaloo, it’s hard to catch up on other Samsung news, such as the fact that the company released the source codes for its latest slates – the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.

The new iPad 2,4 with a 32nm A5 chipset offers noticeably better battery life

You may or may not have already heard that Apple has geared its previous generation iPad – the iPad 2 – with a new processor. The chipset is still the same but the new core processor inside is built on the 32nm technology rather than the 45nm the original iPad 2 used. This isn’t news – it was uncovered a while ago along with the discovery that the new Apple TV uses such chips too.

What’s interesting however, is that today we saw one of the first reviews of this updated product and by the looks of it, the new chip manufacturing technology makes a special difference in the power efficiency department. Read more »
