One of the good things about the Apple vs. Samsung legal kerfuffle is that it has often resulted in a lot of interesting and never before seen information leaking to the public through court document.

Acer’s CEO JT Wang has some words of wisdom for Microsoft and they involve telling them not to enter the tablet market, which is exactly what Microsoft plans to do with the Surface.

While everyone assumed that Microsoft’s decision to enter the hardware manufacturing business will not go down well with their OEM partners, these companies were strangely quiet initially. Apple’s iPad dominates tablet market with record-breaking quarter, according to IDC

While Android was the undisputed ruler in the smartphone world, it’s a different story when it comes to tablets – Apple’s iPad had a record quarter and accounted for 68.2% of tablet shipments during Q2 of this year.

Leaked Sony slides reveal a new Xperia tablet

According to some leaked slides, Sony is going to release a new Android tablet under the Xperia brand, thus unifying its smartphone and tablet business into one brand.

If the slides prove to be correct, the tablet is going to feature a 9.4-inch display with a 1280×800 pixels resolution powered by the quad-core Tegra 3 chipset. Read more »

10-inch BlackBerry PlayBook photographed next to a PlayBook 4G in Vietnam

The BlackBerry PlayBook never gained the popularity that RIM was hoping for and rumors of a bigger 10″ version fizzled out. Vietnamese blog Tinhte however, received photos of just that – a 10″ PlayBook – right next to a PlayBook 4G (Sprint had plans to offer these but then canceled).

Microsoft Surface to launch along with Windows 8 on October 26

Microsoft has revealed in its annual report filed this week that the anticipated Windows 8 based Surface tablet will be released along with the operating system on October 26.

The Dark Knight Rises for iOS and Android game review

We are no strangers to seeing movie tie-in games that come out shortly after the release of a big budget movie. But recently, these games have started appearing on mobile devices as well. We saw Temple Run: Brave, The Amazing Spider-man and now The Dark Knight Rises, releasing just weeks apart from each other.

Today we will be taking a look at The Dark Knight Rises, a game based on arguably the best movie that has come out this year so far. The movie had raised everyone’s expectations sky high and managed to meet and exceed most of them. On the contrary, no one is expecting anything from the Batman game and with the history of movie tie-in games it would be a surprise if it is any good. We decided to find out if that is the case. Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite Android tablet comes with an aluminum unibody, yet uncofirmed specs

Huawei just announced a new 7″ Android tablet – the MediaPad 7 Lite. With Google’s Nexus 7 tablet on the market, there isn’t a lot of room for 7″ droid tablets but the Huawei offering does have a few things the pureblood tablet doesn’t.

First off, the Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite has an aluminum unibody design. Then there’s the 3G connectivity (with voice calls and SMS), along with cameras on the front and the back. The tablet seems to be running stock Android ICS, but Huawei really thrifty with the details. Read more »

Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro based MDP announced, costs $1,299

We already knew a quad-core version of the excellent Snapdragon S4 processor was in the works and now Qualcomm has officially unveiled it. But it hasn’t just announced the chip, and is also offering you a chance to use it on their new Mobile Development Platform (MDP), which for the first time is available in a tablet form-factor and will be sold through BSQUARE.

The MDP/T is primarily targeted at developers and hardware manufacturers who would want to try the new chipset and test their apps on it. The device runs on Android 4.0 but the software is not final, as is often the case with these developer devices. Read more »

Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 Android ICS tablet goes on sale in the US, brings along an optional keyboard dock

Lenovo just put the IdeaTab S2110 on sale in the US – it’s a 10″ Android ICS tablet with an optional keyboard dock, a la Asus Transformer. The keyboard dock features a battery that boosts battery life by 10 hours, two full-size USB ports and a 3-in-1 SD card reader.

The tablet itself features a 10.1″ IPS LCD display, a 5MP main camera (with LED flash), 1.3MP front-facing camera and a pair of speakers with SRS TruMedia enhancement. The Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 APQ8060A chipset with two Krait cores clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM and Adreno 225 GPU. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Note new specs revealed

Samsung is obviously finding it hard to keep the revamped Galaxy Note 10.1 under wraps. The slate was announced back on the MWC in February, but never made it to the shelves and was returned to the company’s R&D center for a specs overhaul instead.

It was just yesterday when we saw the Galaxy Note 10.1 S-Pen ad on YouTube. Today, some lucky guy from Korea managed to get a retail Galaxy Note 10.1 unit and was kind enough to share the unboxing pictures and the official specs of the slate with the rest of us. Read more »

Apple gets the Galaxy Tab 7.7 sales banned in EU, loses in the Galaxy Tab 10.1N case

Apple and Samsung had another round in the Dusseldorf’s Higher Regional Court that ended up badly for the Galaxy Tab 7.7.

Apple scored a victory in its crusade against the Super AMOLED-packing tablet and got its sales banned across the European Union. It’s up to the members of the EU to decide whether to respect this decision or not though. Read more »
