Apple releases camera samples from the new iPad

When Apple announced the new iPad, they made quite a fuss about the new iSight camera on the back. This 5 megapixel shooter uses the new 5 element-lens system that they first used on the iPhone 4S camera, along with an f/2.4 aperture, backside illuminated sensor, hybrid infrared filter and face detection that can detect up to 10 faces simultaneously. You don’t run into tablets with such camera specs that much often. On top of that the new iPad can also record 1080p videos with Apple’s excellent digital image stabilization.

But of course, a camera is only as good as the pictures it takes, so to prove that the new iPad camera takes great videos and images, Apple has uploaded some samples on their site. Read more »

Toshiba lets you peak at its 13.3-inch Tegra 3 powered tablet concept

At CES earlier in the year, Toshiba showcased three of their slates destined to hit the market later in the year. Among them was a 13.3-inch Android-running tablet concept, which was shrouded in mystery.

Alleged photo of next iPad shows iPad HD name, home button on board

Apple’s event will start in a few short hours and the iPad 3, rumors are flying high. The name “iPad HD” is mentioned quite often as the actual name of the next-gen product and there are even some leaked shots of the box to support that.

Marvel releases digital graphic novels on the iBookstore

Popular comic book company Marvel Comics has released 80 of its classic graphic novels on the iBookstore. Although, Marvel has had a dedicated app for the platform for a while now, you could only purchase single comics through it.

The first batch consist of a wide variety of graphic novels from over the years encompassing several genres such as action (X-Men: Messiah Complex), suspense (Secret Invasion), mysteries (Castle: Richard Castle’s Deadly Storm), literary adaptations (Pride & Prejudice) and children’s tales (Wonderful Wizard of Oz). As a bonus, Marvel is also giving away the first full issue of ‘New Avengers Vol. 1: Breakout’ for a limited time. Read more »

Suspected iPad 3 with Retina display makes a web visit to a popular Apple blog

Just a day after Apple sent out official invitations to the iPad 3 announcement event, a popular blogger’s site got visited by one such iPad 3. Interestingly enough, its reported resolution by Google Analytics is Retina display-esque, but not exactly the one everybody expected.

It’s official, Apple will be announcing the iPad 3 on March 7

After all the rumors, leaks, and speculations, Apple has finally revealed the date of the iPad 3 announcement. The magical date is March 7th and here’s how the invitation to the press looks like.

The big event will be held in Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10AM PST, March 7, which happens to be Wednesday. Read more »

It looks like Foxconn’s manufacturing plants have already finished the initial rounds of iPad 3s expected to grace the world in the coming months and word has it, Apple’s next tablet is already en route to the States.

We go hands-on with an unannounced 7.7″ quad-core Toshiba tablet at MWC

Despite trawling all the way through the Fujitsu/Toshiba booth for anything out of the ordinary, we came up short. That was of course until we caught wind of this innocuous little tablet lurking somewhere in the halls at MWC.

ZTE didn’t come all the way from China to Barcelona to just announce smartphones. No, the Chinese are stepping up the slate market as well with their four latest Android tablets.

Adobe releases Photoshop Touch for the iPad 2

After an accidental launch yesterday, where the app was prematurely made available on the New Zealand app store and then pulled down, the iOS version of Photoshop Touch is now available worldwide on the App Store. It will, however, only work on the iPad 2 and also requires the presence of iOS 5.

This app is part of Adobe’s mobile suite of applications for the iOS, which also includes the Adobe Revel, Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop, Adobe Eazel for Photoshop, Adobe Nav for Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Express, and lets you ‘combine images, apply professional effects, share results with friends and family through sites like Facebook, and more – all from the convenience of your iPad.’. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 stops by our office, poses for the camera

The just announced Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 was kind enough to come by our office on its way to the MWC shelves. The latest Samsung slate is supposed to bring the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience on the 10.1” screen, while keeping the price as reasonable as possible.

Before switching it on, you can barely tell the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 apart from its predecessor, but the actual user experience is quite different with the second gen slate. Read more »

Google could launch a 7-inch Nexus tablet this summer
