Panasonic has launched the new Lumix GF3, their smallest and lightest interchangeable lens camera. Although it might seem as if it is the successor to the GF2, the GF3 will be selling alongside it and takes a more simplified approach to photography that would appeal to novices.

The lens that was eluded to nearly a fortnight ago is now here to stay. Nikon have officially drawn the curtain back on the new AF-S NIKKOR 50mm F/1.8G lens.
Other than its shiny new-ness, the 50mm F/1.8G can pull off some interesting tricks. With the inclusion of a dedicated Silent Wave Motor the lens can promise quiet auto focusing on all Nikon bodies and at the same time, instant access to its manual focus capabilities. Read more »
In mid-2010, Sony released the highly successful NEX-3 Compact. It sported a huge 14.2 MP sensor, a large adjustable screen, interchangeable lenses and could shoot 720p HD video. Oddly enough, Sony decided that despite its success they would then take it off the shelves after only 8 months of availability. It seems now however that its successor is getting ready to take the stand.
Leaked shots of the NEX-C3 have been spotted and it looks to build on the reputation of its predecessor. For a start it comes with a 16.2MP image sensor, the same sensor used in the Sony A55 DSLR. It will most likely support full 1080p HD video recording and as you can see in the image above, comes with a far more impressive flash than that of the NEX-3. Nikon recently published (and then removed) details on their US site of a new AF-S NIKKOR 50mm F/1.8G lens complete with a Silent Wave focusing motor.

We’ve been expecting this one for a long time. And it’s finally here. The Motorola Atrix has come to our office and we’re eagerly working on a full review.
The Moto Atrix means business with its dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB worth of RAM and qHD (540×960) resolution. It’s a flagship by any standards and we’ll be testing whether it’s up to the task of competing with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S II and LG Optimus 2X.
We actually have the Atrix 4G variety – that’s the model for the US market but there are no important differences between the two models – except perhaps the supported 3G bands.

With the kind of success the Nikon D7000 had, it was only a matter of time that Nikon introduced a slightly trimmed down version that brings its great imaging capabilities to the lower market segments. Enter the Nikon D5100!
Built around the same 16.2 MP APS-C imager as the D7000, the Nikon D5100 can capture 1080p@24p, 25p or 30p video with continuous autofocus and even adds an articulated screen to what looks like an already attractive package. Time lapse videos are one of the most beautiful and many times stunning, even, forms of video capture. A time lapse video is a sequence of many photos, which display the world in front of you in a fast seamless motion.

Olympus just unveiled the exciting SZ-30MR superzoom camera, which is the first in the world to support multi-recording. This means you can snap the occasional 16MP photo, even while you are actively recording 1080p video with the camera and you won’t lose any video frames while doing that. Oh, and we also got another rugged compact – the Olympus Tough TG-810.
Pentax also joined the camera announcement party today in preparation for the CP+ camera show in Japan that’s due to start tomorrow. Pentax is throwing in a couple of rugged compacts and a silver version of their pretty successful K-5 DSLR.
As you could imagine, the WG-1 and WG-1 GPS are perfectly identical, but for the built-in GPS. Both are built around 1/2.33” sensors of 14 megapixel resolution and have 5x zoom f/3.5-5.5 lenses. The 28 – 140mm range covered is hardly spectacular, but still decent for the rugged league. Read more »
