Recently we reported a brand new free software unlock method that could free your iPhone from the shackles of its official carrier. Popular SIM unlock solutions provider Gevey revealed their latest SIM insert soon after that – after a long stall in the unlocking development it now offered an unlock solution regardless of baseband version for $50.

Now Apple-N-Berry, the Gevey distributor, is recalling all units sold, the reason being Apple has closed the security loophole that SAM used. Wait, what? Nvidia announced its newest flagship graphics card at the NVIDIA Gaming Festival 2012 in Shanghai, the GeForce GTX 690. Combining two GTX 680s on a single card, the 690 is going to be one hell of a performer.

Combining two chips on a board is always tricky business and contrary to what one might expect the performance is not exactly double that of a single GPU card. In fact it’s usually less than the two cards running in SLi mode. But with the GTX 690, NVIDIA is aiming to get performance that will be equivalent to running two GTX 680 in SLi, while maintaining the convenience and lower cost of having a single card in your system. Despite being the co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak is known to use products from competing brands and publicly speak and praise them as he sees fit. So when he was asked about Windows Phone 7 by A New Domain, he did not hesitate to speak his mind.

As anyone would guess, Woz finds Windows Phone to be visually a lot superior to Android, going as far as saying that there is no contest between the two. He seemed to be especially in love with the transition animations and the simplicity of the UI, which makes it immediately apparent to the user what they have to do next. In comparison, he thinks that the Android UI is a lot more complex and requires prior knowledge on part of the user. Read more »

Samsung’s advertising has been pretty aggressive, especially against rival Apple. They even mocked the infamous long lines of people queuing to grab their next iGadget. Samsung Australia actually pulled a stunt where they offered Galaxy S II phones for $2 right outside of Apple’s store. So, when a video of a flashmob waiving signs and chanting “Wake up!” showed up in front of an Australian Apple store, everyone (including us) jumped to the assumption that it was the South Korean company that organized it.

One of the best features of Chrome is the ‘Most visited sites’ view in the new tab, where the browser presents you with a grid of thumbnails of sites you visit most often. This is a derivation of the speed dial function in Opera, that allows the user to manually set any site they want as a speed dial on the new tab page for quick access.

In a tweet yesterday, Rockstar Games announced that they’ll delay the Android version of the highly anticipated Max Payne game.

Furniture giant IKEA is apparently out to improve the disposable camera concept. The company has unveiled a digital camera housed in a cardboard body, which it plans to sell in its stores around the globe.
