Samsung seems to be preparing a Kids edition of its Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 slate. The tablet is called Galaxy Tab 3 Kids and will launch this September.

The specs of the customized Tab 3 Kids are identical to those of its vanilla sibling – it comes with a 7″ TFT display with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels, runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and features a 3MP camera, 1GB of RAM and 8GB expandable storage. Read more »

The specifications of the next-gen Asus FonePad HD 7, MeMo Pad HD 8 and MeMo Pad HD 10 have surfaced. According to them, the FonePad HD 7 will be an upgrade to the current version of the FonePad and the upcoming tablet is codenamed ME372CG.

As its name suggests, Asus FonePad HD 7 will sport a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The slate will be powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom processor and pack PowerVR GPU clocked at 400MHz. Read more »

The Ubuntu Edge jumped past the $10 million mark today and as of the time of writing has gathered $10,386,000 in its (doomed) crowd-sourced funding campaign.

An Amazon tablet has been spotted in a GFX Bench database. The entry reveals the specifications of what will be the second-generation Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet.

A Nokia Windows RT tablet has been spotted in the wild. The device has the familiar Verizon and 4G LTE logos on the back and the red color to go with the branding. The tablet will also be available on AT&T at launch.

Samsung and Sony have dominated this year’s prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association awards getting five winners each. It was HTC that won in the arguably most important category, though – Advanced smartphone. The EISA awards recognize the best equipment across a range of technology categories and the winners are picked based on the judgement from 50 specialized magazines, which are based across 20 countries in Europe.

Lenovo has recently became the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world with a 4.7% market share, just 0.3% less than LG in third. Lenovo’s success doesn’t end with its newly earned fourth place though.

According to the latest earnings report the Chinese company has sold more phones and tablets than personal computers for the first time in its history. If you think the achievement is not that impressive, you should note the fact Lenovo is currently world’s biggest PC manufacturer with 12+ million PCs shipped globally in the last quarter alone. Intel is making big promises with its next-generation Atom chips from the Bay Trail platform like $200 Windows 8 tablets. So, the “Samsung with Bay Trail SoC” that appeared in some shipping manifests is a cause for some excitement.

Bay Trail chips will be built on a 22nm process, hit 2.1GHz and along with the CPU core redesign, the chips will use Intel’s own GPU architecture from Ivy Bridge. Read more »

After recently having being diagnosed with GPS connectivity issues, owners of the new Nexus 7 tablet are now complaining about the erratic performance of multi-touch functionality on the display.

According to a report by our colleagues over at Geek.com, Google has chosen ASUS to manufacture the refreshed Nexus 10 slate instead of sticking with Samsung. The information comes from an unknown retailer listing which ties ASUS to the second-gen Nexus 10 slate.

The filling has placeholder dimensions, weight and release date for the tablet, making its authenticity quite questionable. However, it wouldn’t be such a stretch for ASUS to be responsible for the Nexus-line of tablets, considering it’s been producing the original Nexus 7 as well as the 2013 version of the 7″ tablet and both of those are shaping to be quite successful.
