At today’s Premiere event in London Samsung officially announced two tablets – the convertible ATIV Q and ATIV Tab 3. Both devices run Windows 8, while the ATIV Q can dual boot Android as well.

Microsoft has decided to make their Surface RT tablet more attractive to educational institutions by offering massive discounts. Now, schools and colleges will be able to purchase the 32GB Surface RT for just $199, which normally costs $499 to the general public.

If they choose to go with the optional Touch Keyboard Cover option, then it would set them back by $249 instead of the usual $599 and the Type Keyboard Cover model would cost $289 instead of $629. All models come with Microsoft Office as standard. Read more »

The iPad mini is selling well and Apple might be thinking of adopting its narrow bezel design for the big iPad too. Photos of a prototype iPad 5 along with cases for it have leaked, but we only have someone’s lap to give us a sense of scale (otherwise it might just be an iPad mini, take this with a pinch of salt).

A yet to be revealed ASUS made tablet, carrying a Nexus brand name has made an appearance at the FCC. The revealed specs of the upcoming slate make it more than likely to be the highly-anticipated second generation Google Nexus 7.

The specs of the ASUS tablet include a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU, front and rear cameras, LTE radio, and a 4,000mAh battery. Read more »

With an uninspiring Galaxy Tab 10.1 refresh out of the way, Samsung may be looking to produce something more interesting – Korean site ETNews claims that a 12.2″ tablet is on the way.

Samsung has reportedly partnered with Sharp to deliver 2—2.5 million 12.2″ screens a month for a total of about 12 million panels per quarter. The two companies announced they will work closer after Samsung bought a 3% stake in Sharp. Read more »

Samsung officially announced its Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 earlier this the week. At the announcement, the Koreans only confirmed white color option, but now the images of the Golden Brown variant of both slates have leaked courtesy of the popular evleaks. Twitter account.

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen has teased the company’s yet-to-be announced Android tablet at a Qualcomm Keynote at Computex 2013. The ASUS executive also revealed the presence of Snapdragon chip along with an LTE radio inside the tablet.

The mysterious tablet is said to have a full HD display and given the looks of the slate, it might well be a LTE variant of the recently announced MeMo Pad FHD 10. Read more »

A deluge of new laptops hit after Intel announced its next generation Core processors and Sony unveiled the spiritual successor of the Vaio Z (and P to some extent), the Vaio Pro, plus a new Vaio Duo.

The Sony Vaio Pro comes in 13.3″ and 11.6″ versions, both targeting “lightest laptop with touch, ever” for their respective sizes, thanks to a carbon fiber build. The big one weighs 1,060g, while the small one tips the scale at just 871g. Read more »

Qualcomm is working with Microsoft to introduce the Snapdragon 800 chipset to future Windows RT 8.1 devices, making it just the third to make it to the young platform after Snapdragon S4 (also Qualcomm’s chip) and NVIDIA’s Tegra 3.

The chip uses four Krait 400 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz, the Adreno 330 graphics chip and has support for LTE. Read more »

Foxconn has officially unveiled the first Firefox OS-powered tablet, which was rumored for a while, at a press event at Computex 2013 in Taipei.

ASUS has officially announced its Transformer Book Trio at the on-going Computex 2013. The ASUS Transformer Book Trio is a three-in-one mobile device, which dual-boots Windows 8 and Android and aims to give you a netbook, a tablet and a Windows 8 desktop PC in one device.

The Transformer Book Trio sports an 11.6-inch detachable display and the PC Station dock has an Intel Core i7 processor, keyboard and a 750 GB hard drive. The tablet display can be detached and the main part can be hooked to an external display to use as a desktop PC. Read more »

ASUS has just announced three new Android tablets at Computex 2013. The first of the trio is an update to last year’s Transformer Pad Infinity. The new one runs on the NVIDIA Tegra 4 SoC with 1.9GHz quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU and the 72-core GeForce GPU.

Other features of the Transformer Pad Infinity include a 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 resolution IPS display, 2GB RAM, 32GB built-in memory, 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front camera, both with auto-focus, USB 3.0 port, SD card slot, dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi with Miracast support and Bluetooth 3.0+EDR. We have seen it leak a few times before but now it’s finally official. Acer has taken the wraps off the Iconia W3, the first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet.

The Iconia W3 has an 8.1-inch, 1280 x 800 resolution display. It is powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 processor and is available in 32GB and 64GB variants. Other features include 2 megapixel camera on the front and back, micro HDMI out, micro USB port for connecting accessories such as USB drives, keyboards and mice (with an adapter, of course), microSD card slot and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n.
