Next-gen Amazon Kindle Fire HD appears in GFX Bench, Snapdragon 800 chipset confirmed

An Amazon tablet has been spotted in a GFX Bench database. The entry reveals the specifications of what will be the second-generation Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet.

The unnamed Amazon tablet with codename Apollo will sport a 2560 x 1600 resolution display and the upcoming slate will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with Adreno 330 GPU. Furthermore, the Amazon tablet will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The above benchmark results align with the recent report about the 2013 edition of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. That rumor also suggested that the 7-inch model of the Kindle Fire HD 2013 will come out with a 1920 x 1080 resolution display, Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2 GB of RAM and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Amazon’s customizations on top.

Amazon is expected to make a formal announcement by the end of September, but there is no official confirmation at the moment.
