People seem to really be loving the idea of a Jolla Tablet. That is, if we judge based on how much money they’ve already pledged for the device on Indiegogo. The tablet’s makers have already been promised 184% of their funding goal.

WhatsApp’s Android iteration can now boast end-to-end encryption for your messages, according to a new report. The functionality has been baked into the latest update for the app, and the encryption is turned on by default.
The “end-to-end” part means WhatsApp (or Facebook, its owner) won’t be able to decrypt your messages, even if it is compelled to do so by law enforcement agencies. Read more »

And now the social network has announced a new standalone mobile app that focuses on one single aspect of your Facebook experience. In this case, we’re talking about Groups.

YouTube unveiled its subscription service, dubbed Music Key, a couple of days ago. One of the most interesting bits about it is that it actually includes a subscription to Google Play Music All Access, which means you’ll also be able to stream the more than 30 million songs in that catalogue, and get expert-curated playlists too.

Less than 24 hours ago, we spotted the Asus ZenWatch getting listed in the Google Play Store. Back then, however, the smartwatch was only said to be “coming soon”, and you couldn’t order it.

If you’re into round Android Wear-based smartwatches, T-Mobile has a couple of things to tell you. The magenta carrier has today announced that it will begin selling the round LG G Watch R on November 19, which is next Wednesday.

Today Microsoft has unveiled a new free video editing app for Windows Phone 8.1. It’s called Movie Creator, and it’s available in beta in the Windows Phone app store, for Lumia smartphones. It also works on tablets running Windows 8.1.
It lets you create movies using up to 25 videos you’ve recorded on your phone, as well as photos, cinemagraphs, ‘living images’, and music from your mobile device. Read more »

Android Wear has gotten an update or two so far since its official unveiling a few months back, but those only brought with them minor new features. That said, it looks like the Lollipop update for Google’s wearable platform will come with many new things, and they’ve all been detailed in a comprehensive leak.

The Gear S smartwatch is a best-seller in Samsung’s home country of South Korea, and now it’s received its first ever TV ad too. This has been published by Samsung on its official YouTube channel, and it’s a short, concise look at a few things that make this watch stand out.
The Gear S, you may remember, is the first smartwatch to come with its own mobile network connectivity (and a SIM card slot for that purpose), eschewing the need for it to constantly be paired to a smartphone via Bluetooth. Read more »
Last month, Samsung finally announced the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5, which had been leaking like crazy before that. The two new phones are decidedly mid-range in specs, but they do come with metal unibody construction. It’s taken Samsung a very long time to go this route for smartphone materials, and now it looks like it may have a problem on its hands.
A simple test conducted in Russia shows that the A3 and A5 have noticeably worse signal reception when compared to the plastic Galaxy S5. Read more »
HTC has published yet another of its built-in apps on the Google Play Store today. This time we’re talking about HTC Camera, which joins many other apps, including the Sense 6 lock screen, the Sense launcher, as well as HTC Weather.
