Updated Dropbox for Android lets you export files to your SD card

Dropbox has updated its Android app, adding what had to be a top requested feature: the ability to export files from your Dropbox cloud storage to your mobile device’s SD card.

Google Play Newsstand for Android receives Material Design update

It’s been almost one year since Google unveiled the new Play Newsstand app for Android, which incorporated features from both Play Magazines and Google Currents under one roof. To celebrate, Google is releasing a big update to the app, which brings it an entirely new design.

Moto 360 gets priced in India

The Moto 360 smartwatch looks like it’s getting closer and closer to a release in India. That’s because it’s been listed by Flipkart, the sole official seller of Motorola’s products in the subcontinent.

Furthermore, the Moto 360 has already been priced, even if it doesn’t have a shipping date attached just yet. If you want the round smartwatch, you’ll need to part with INR 17,999 (that’s about $292 or €230 at the current exchange rates). Read more »

Gresso creates aluminum and titanium cases that protect the iPhone 6 from bending

The fact that the new iPhone 6 Plus is prone to bending has been all over the Internet lately, as you probably know. Now though, one company claims to have developed a solution for the problem. Said company is Gresso, maker of all things luxurious, which has announced an aluminum case for the iPhone 6 that should make bending it a lot harder.

The case increases the amount of force needed to deform the iPhone from 70 lbs to 300 lbs. It has a 2mm back panel made out of CNC machined aluminum, and is touted as being “highly resistant to stress, compression, and bending”. Read more »

Sony starts ad campaign for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact

As its two new flagship smartphones are slowly becoming available across the world, Sony has decided to mark the official start for an ad campaign that’s all about the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact.

So far two TV commercials have been posted to the company’s YouTube channel, but more of these videos are said to be on the way. The tagline for the whole campaign is “Don’t settle for good. Demand great”. Read more »

Moto 360 gets its first ad, which focuses on its design

Now that the Moto 360, its first smartwatch running Android Wear, is already available, Motorola has started the ad campaign for it. The first one-minute ad for the Moto 360 was released earlier today, and it seems to be all about design.

Asus joins #bendgate fun, mocks Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus

After Samsung, LG, HTC, and even KitKat, Asus has joined the #bendgate fun party by mocking the iPhone 6 Plus too. The Taiwanese company is also promoting two of its products while it’s at it. First up, the Zenfone 6, as you can see.

Facebook will get unconditional approval from EU on WhatsApp purchase, sources say

Many months ago in February, Facebook made some big news when it announced plans to acquire successful messaging company WhatsApp for a mind-melting $19 billion. But the deal still has to be approved by regulatory agencies across the world, including the EU’s competition authority. That apparently shouldn’t concern Facebook, as the EU is rumored to give it the go-ahead “unconditionally”.

That means the company won’t have to make any concessions and the deal will simply be approved as is, since Facebook reportedly managed to convince the European Commission that it would have no anticompetitive effect. The information allegedly comes from “two people familiar with the matter”. Read more »

Microsoft outs NFL-infused ad for the Surface Pro 3

The latest ad for Microsoft’s latest tablet, the Surface Pro 3, is all about football. And the NFL. And specifically, the Seattle Seahawks. The whole idea is that the Surface Pro 3 is “trusted by the pros”, yet “built for the fans”.

Since Microsoft has a $400 million advertising deal with the NFL, perhaps this ad shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Read more »

Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited subscription reaches the UK

Kindle Unlimited was unveiled back in July, but only now it’s become available in the UK as well. In the meantime, it looks like Amazon added around 50,000 more books to the Unlimited roster.

If you choose this subscription service, you pay £7.99 per month and get unlimited access to over 650,000 books and “thousands of audiobooks” on any device. Read more »

Microsoft’s Chromecast competitor gets official as the Wireless Display Adapter

Today Microsoft has officially unveiled its Wireless Display Adapter, which will serve as its competitor for Google’s very successful Chromecast dongle. Microsoft’s product first got leaked back in August.

The Wireless Display Adapter uses Miracast technology, so any Miracast-enabled device can send stuff to it. The adapter itself comes with two plugs: one goes into an HDMI port on your TV, monitor, or projector, and the other one is a normal USB plug which is used for powering the dongle. Read more »
