Leaked plastic iPhone casing hints at a budget Apple smartphone

Chatter about a budget iPhone has increased in past months, and now a photo of a plastic iPhone casing has emerged online pouring even more fuel into that particular rumor fire.

The plastic shell has a glossy white finish and features all the necessary cuttings for the camera, LED flash, volume rocker and silent mode button. The source of the rumor says that the shell measures 0.4-0.6mm thick and is “likely” bigger than the iPhone 4/4S. Read more »

Jolla to debut its Sailfish OS phone in May, host a “pre-sales” campaign for eager fans

Jolla Chairman Antti Saarnio revealed today that the company’s first device running the new Sailfish OS is going to debut in May.

Furthermore, the company will set up a “pre-sales” campaign, allowing fans to register and buy the phone before it being officially available. Jolla promises that those who join in on the Kickstarter-like campaign will get something “unique” on their devices. Read more »

The first ever Steve Jobs movie has debuted online and its called simply “iSteve”. Its produced by humor website Funny or Die and starrs Justin Long playing Steve Jobs and Jorge Garcia as Steve Wozniak.

Facebook updates Messenger app with Chatheads feature from Home, looks really cool

In addition to launching Facebook Home for select Android smartphones out there, the social network has also issued an update to its Messenger app giving it the cool Chatheads features from Home.

Now, whenever you receive a new Facebook message, a cool Chathead bubble appears on your screen informing you who has messaged you, but not what the message it. This last bit is displayed when you tap on the Chathead with a cool overlay screen. Read more »

Google has set up an Inactive Account Manager giving you the option to choose what happens with your digital footprint after you’ve passed away or have been inactive for a specific amount of time.

After you set your timeout period (ranging from 3 months to 1 year) you’ll then be prompted to point up to 10 trusted friends or family members to be notified of your inactivity. Read more »

Google Play Music is now available in seven new countries

Google expanded its Play Music service available to a new batch of countries – Austria, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, and Portugal.This is the largest expansion Google has done to Play Music to date, making up the list of countries with access to the service to 12

People living there can now upload their existing music library as well as purchase new songs through the service and build up a library of up to 20,000 songs. Read more »

Microsoft to issue GDR3 Windows Phone 8 update by the end of the year, support for 1080p displays in tow

Microsoft is preparing an update to Windows Phone 8 that’s going to include support for 1080p displays, according to sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans for its mobile platform.

The Verge reports that new devices will also be announced alongside the upcoming Windows Phone 8 update in times for the holidays. They’ll not only be featuring 1080p displays, but also QUalcomm’s quad-core CPUs. Read more »

And as luck would have it we just got one of the more buzz-generating among them in our office – meet the Samsung Galaxy S4 Wireless Charging Pad.

Eager to catch up with its domestic rival LG and the traction-gaining Finns at Nokia, the Galaxy S4 sports wireless charging capability, as well.
