iSupply: Samsung is the second biggest chip maker in Q1, 2013, Intel sits on top

According to a report filed by market information provider iSupply, Samsung is breathing down Intel’s neck in the semiconductor market race in the first quarter of 2013 with 10.5% market share. Intel controls 15.1% if the chip market.

For the January-March period, Samsung’s recorded $7.77 billion in sales, while Intel sales totalled $11.16 billion. Read more »

The BlackBerry Q10 and Z10 duo have the tough job of making the company relevant again. As we found out in our BlackBerry Z10 review, it’s very good phone overall, but merely mediocre as far as its battery performance is concerned.

ASUS unwraps its PQ321 31.5-inch 4K-resolution monitor

ASUS has announced the PQ321 monitor packing 4K resolution. The professional-grade screen is 31.5 inches in diagonal and can show one billion colors thanks to its 10-bit RGB LED-backlit IGZO panel.

The 4K resolution translates to 3840 x 2160 pixels, which adds up to a pixel density of 140 pixels per inch. Other features of the ASUS PQ321 include 176-degree viewing angle, 350 cd/m2 brightness and 8ms response time. Read more »

Purported second-gen Google Nexus 7 tablet makes an appearance in a promo video

Google certainly loves teasing us – the search giant has featured an yet unknown tablet in a promo Google Maps video. The real kicker is that it doesn’t look anything like the purported second-gen Nexus 7 slate we saw at one of the Google I/O sessions.

Google updates Play Music Android app with options to share songs with friends and delete tracks

Google Play Music has been updated with some minor features that make the app more complete as a music player.

Nokia Asha 308, 309, 310 and 311 get Mail for Exchange app to sync their Microsoft email, contacts and calendar

Great news for the nearly 10 million Asha Touch phones out there, as Nokia has just added Mail for Exchange support to these devices.

The Nokia Asha 308, 309, 310 and 311 will now be able to sync email, contacts and calendar entries via the Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, 2007 and 2010 protocol as well as use the Microsoft Office 365 Mobility Online Service. Read more »

With the Galaxy S4 being more of a evolution than a revolution in the Samsung’s smartphone design language, reports are flying in today that the company’s top executives have met in Seoul to discuss where the look of its products, both internal and external, is going.

Codenamed simply “Design 3.0″, the initiative will have the complex task at hand to sculpture the future product design language of Samsung. Reportedly, the company’s chiefs want their products to stand out and pack “positive values”. Read more »

A Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone combusts out of the blue and burns off while owner is asleep

Yet another incident with an exploding Galaxy S3 has occurred last night, but this time it hasn’t been provoked by microwaves. Reddit user vizionx1208 was last night woken to a loud sign and a ton of smoke coming out of his beloved Galaxy S3.

Samsung sets up a dedicated patent company in the US under the ownership of its Display division

Samsung has decided to invest further in defending itself against patent infringement cases as well as protecting its already existing patents by establishing a dedicated patent firm in the US.

More specifically, Samsung Display has created a company called Intellectual Keystone Technology (IKT), which specializes in intellectual property and is based in Washington D.C., USA. Read more »

An official photo of a brown Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 leaks, no specific release date yet

With the Galaxy S4 having already leaked in a brown suit, it’s time for the Galaxy Note 8.0 to do the same thing. Renowned leakster evleaks has brought up to light an official Samsung photo of the compact slate in a brown color.

Lenovo getting ready to enter the US and EU smartphone markets within a year

Lenovo slowly but surely shows its potential of becoming a respectable smartphone maker (the K900 being its latest and greatest Android smartphone), but outside of China, its smartphones are only available in India, Indonesia and Russia.

Google Knowledge Graph reminders can now be sent directly to Google Now

Hot off the Google I/O 2013 announcements, the search giant has implemented Google Now reminders feature from Knowledge Graph search results.

From now on whenever you’re signed in with your Google account and make a search that returns a Knowledge Graph entry containing a future date, you’ll get a “Remind me” button. Read more »
