Sony finally unveils its first mirror-less interchangeable lens cameras, the NEX-3 and NEX-5

by 8 comments

It’s been a while since we last heard of Sony’s upcoming mirror-less interchangeable lens cameras but now the speculations about their premiere date can stop: the Sony NEX-3 and NEX-5 have just been officially announced!

While the NEX-3 is made of polycarbonate and shoots 720p HD videos, its bro, the NEX-5 comes with a noticeably smaller magnesium alloy body and is capable of taking 1080i AVCHD video clips. Basically, those are the differences between those two. Oh, and the 100 euro extra you’ll have to pay for the NEX-5.

AMD announce 5 new dual-core, triple-core and quad-core CPUs

by 5 comments

AMD have just announced the latest additions to their lineup of Athlon II CPUs. The five new members start from the budget-minded 3.2GHz dual-core Athlon II X2 260, which should retail for 76 US dollars, and climb up to to the 3GHz quad-core Athlon II X4 640 (MSRP 122 US dollars).

All the new processors are compatible with the AM3 and AM2+ sockets. While I doubt that the Athlon II X4 640 will be able to match the performance of even the cheapest Intel i5 quad-core processor, it’s going to retail for almost half of its price, making it an excellent choice for multi-taskers on a tight budget.

I’m eagerly waiting for those benchmarks to come out and show what those new chips are capable of.

New Sony VAIO P series make mouths water, wallets shiver

by 665 comments

Sony announced the new members of their VAIO P ultra-portable series and they sound exciting to say the least. Available in a selection of five different colors and weighing just over 600 grams the new Sony subnotebooks pack GPS, Digital compass, accelerometer and touchpad.

The built-in Everywair 3G module supports HSDPA (up to 7.2 Mbps) and there are two USB ports on board. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi b/g/n make up for a connectivity grand slam. But that’s by far not all that the new Sony VAIO P series have to offer. Read more »

ClamCase for iPad will turn it into a netbook, sort of

by 453 comments

Not another iPad post, no! Sorry guys, we’re just excited over our new office gadget and that’s why it’s getting all the attention of us bloggers. As usual, if you don’t like a post, just skip it, alright?

Now the new iPad topic of the day is the ClamCase for iPad. It’s actually a 3-in-1 gadget – a Bluetooth keyboard, a stylish 360-degree flip case and a positioning stand. Inserting your iPad in the ClamCase will make it look just like a netbook. I bet Steve Jobs is clenching his teeth right now somewhere out there.

The Apple iPad as a gaming device part 3: Angry Birds

by 8 comments

I’ve been playing Angry Birds for iPhone for quite a while now. I really thought it couldn’t possibly get any better until the iPad arrived in our office and I got a taste of the iPad optimized version.

Since then I tried several other of my favorite iPhone games in their dedicated large-screen versions and honestly, now I hate playing games on my iPhone. The big vivid capacitive screen of the iPad is the perfect tool for having fun with lots of the touch-based games initially introduced on the iPhone platform.

Angry Birds had been one of the first “blockbuster” games that have their HD versions for iPad. The gaming interface is the same as on the iPhone, but the experience is quite different. The larger graphics are much nicer, plus aiming and bombing pigs is that much easier. Read more »
