Toshiba has been pretty open about its development of a Tegra 2-powered tablet that runs Honeycomb, but only now we see its official announcement, complete with pricing, release date and name. The bad news is that the Toshiba Regza AT300 will only be hitting Japan and we are still in the wait for European and American versions.

Anyway the Toshiba Regza AT300 10.1-incher looks like a pretty powerful beast with its Tegra 2 chipset, featuring a couple of Cortex-A9 cores, clocked at 1GHz. Yet its main feature remains the glasses-free 3D screen with a resolution of 1,280×800 pixels. The adaptive display features some new technology, which allows it to adjust color balance in addition to brightness depending on the ambient light. Read more »

The BlackBerry PlayBook barely made it to stores’ shelves and already it fell into the hands of the guys over at iFixit and was carefully stripped to pieces. The guts of RIM’s shiny new tablet showed (almost) nothing surprising and scored a 7/10 repairability.

Nokia has given Ovi Maps a major boost in the eye-candy department of Ovi Maps. We’ve seen 3D buildings before, but Nokia and C3 Technologies collaborated to scan entire cities – down to the last detail – and produce “photo-realistic” models.

Samsung released the source code for the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update for the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S – you can grab it now from their Open Source Release Center (search for GT-I9000_OpenSource_GB.zip).

Samsung has just released a rather funny video ad of their flagship superphone, the Galaxy S II. The phone is set to launch in May for the UK and early June for the rest of the major markets, so we should see more and more videos like this from Samsung in the future.

Nikon recently published (and then removed) details on their US site of a new AF-S NIKKOR 50mm F/1.8G lens complete with a Silent Wave focusing motor.

This unofficially announced design should allow autofocus on all entry-level Nikon DSLR bodies, including the latest D5100 and D3100 the lens should work with both FX and DX DSLRs. Read more »

“CapyChimp” over at XDA Developers just released a port of the HTC Pyramid ROM to all adventurous HTC Desire HD owners. The speed of the turn around does mean that in its current state, the ROM does have very limited functionality, but this does allow users to have a look around what those picking up an EVO 3D, Sensation or Flyer are in for.

Flickr is one of the first websites that comes to mind when you have some photos to share with friends or when you just want to upload your cat photo albums for everyone to admire. For several years Flickr has been the place to upload and share photos, no matter your how skilled you are or what gear you have.

Talking about gear, Flickr has pretty interesting statistics regarding the most used cameras that upload to their site. The top spot is taken by the good ol’ Nikon D90 – a nearly three-year-old DSLR camera, which is not such a surprise. The real shocker, is the runner-up.
