Samsung have just released their Galaxy S WiFi duo – the 4.0 and 5.0 models to the European market. After their tour around South Korea the large-screened media player/tablets with a touch of Android are now on sale in Russia and Switzerland with more countries expected to follow in the weeks to come.
The 4” and 5” Galaxy S WiFi versions run on Android 2.2 Froyo, but will get an update to 2.3 Gingerbread eventually. The lack of cellular radio aside, their internals are almost identical to the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S former flagship – a Hummingbird chipset, featuring a 1GHz CPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS , 8 or 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. Samsung has released yet another ad for their flagship extraordinaire, the Galaxy S II. This time the main focus is on the industry-leading (so far) Exynos chipset, packing a dual-core processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and the HSPA+ internet speeds. The ad promises there will be no more breaks, just smooth sailing.
The video is shot on a square in front of a beautiful building in some desirable location (probably) and displays two sets of dance groups. One of them represents the hiccup performance with the brakes, stuttering while dancing and then comes the zippier, more fluid one, which dances circles around the first one. Read more »
It appears that BestBuy is the the place to shop for tablets this Spring, guys. In lieu of their announcement of an upcoming dual-core Toshiba tablet, the electronics retailer has put the HTC Flyer up for pre-order – the company’s first Android tablet.

Bummer! A senior executive at Samsung confirmed that the company will not release AMOLED equipped tablet devices this year.
This is definitely surprising and unpleasant news all at the same time. After all, the AMOLED screen technology is one feature which gives Samsung a considerable edge over the competition in the mobile device market. Read more »
Earlier today, Sony’s VP Kazuo Hirai, (formerly in charge of Sony’s PlayStation division) headed up a conference from Sony’s HQ in Tokyo, Japan. The conference was held to address the current situation of the PlayStation Network, the online infrastructure employed by PlayStation 3 owners to play games online, communicate with friends, view PS3 specific content and shop.
The PSN service was recently taken offline after hackers compromised the system and have possibly stolen personal user data including user’s names, addresses, passwords and bank information being accessible to the attackers. Sony have since disconnected the PSN and the service has been offline for more than a week. Read more »
It appears that Microsoft is getting more and more serious about its Windows Phone 7 platform, guys. The software giant’s mobile OS has been subject to a lot of criticism due to its lack of available applications. Now, it looks like things are about to change as the company released an iOS to WP7 mapping tool for app developers.

Samsung recently published a notice on their Samsung Social Hub Facebook page stating that the Social Hub Premium update will not be coming to the Samsung Wave S8500. Social Hub Basic is Samsung’s standard interconnecting messaging and communications infrastructure found on their premium Android and Bada handsets such as the Galaxy S II and the Wave II.
The basic version offers support for ActiveSync support for email, Gtalk and Yahoo! Messenger IM functionality and integrated calendar and contact syncing abilities. Read more »

Independent tech market analysts Canalys have crowned Apple the kings of the current Worldwide PC Market which has undergone a 7% market increase as of Q1 2011, fueled primarily, by tablet growth.
Apple sit among the top 5 companies responsible for this positive growth based on market shares accounting for 187.9% increase in growth alongside HP, Acer, Dell and Leonovo (who were the second largest contributor to the growth with a 17% contribution to the overall result). Read more »

The Galaxy Gio is one of the four new members in the mid-range Galaxy lineup running on Froyo – Ace, Fit, Mini and Gio. We already had the Ace in our hands so we didn’t expect any surprises with the Gio. And there certainly are none, now that we have it on our hands.
Samsung Galaxy Gio packs virtually the same hardware as the Ace except two minor changes – a 0.3-inch smaller display and a 3.2 auto-focus megapixel camera instead of 5. The connectivity package, processor, graphics, Android OS and TouchWiz UI, as well as the memory options and even the battery are the same as those of the Samsung Ace. Read more »
You may not have heard of the Bing Maps Ortho Project but it’s goal is to up the ante on the digital maps scene by delivering high-resolution ground images of continental USA and Western Europe. Imagine the currently available Satellite views and imagine you could use those to zoom in even further down… Way in, actually, as the imagery is all shot from a small plane, not a satellite…
For this project Microsoft has equipped planes with specially designed 220 MP cameras and 13 PCs each. The planes were sent off to 5.8 km high in the sky to cover about 18 million square km. Do I hear those numbers crunching in your head? Yeah, the project is that optimistic and capturing those image data and importing it to Bing Maps it will cost Microsoft just about $130 million bucks.
