The iOS 5 beta 6 was released via an OTA update a couple of days ago and it already got its jailbreak via the Sn0wbreeze v2.8 beta 6 tool.

The iOS 5 beta 6 itself brings some bug fixes but nothing too major. You can get it OTA directly from your iPhone issues-free. The jailbreak brings developers full access to the OS, but the jailbreak is a tethered one again so your device will need to be jailbroken anew every time your restart or power-off your phone.

The only device that’s skimping on the spoils is the iPad 2 – no jailbreak there.

Choosing a browser was much simpler in the past. There were fewer choices available and usually there would be a clear winner. These days you have a lot more options available and all of them are more or less similar. So which one should you choose for the best browsing experience?

If you were wondering what would happen to all those TouchPads sitting in warehouses after HP decided to abandon webOS, you now have the answer. HP just announced a mouth-watering discount on the ill-fated tablet, with the base 16GB model now costing a mere $99 and the 32GB for $150.

Despite being one of the major players on the Android phone market, HTC has still not fully entered the tablet battle – the Taiwanese giant is yet to announce a tablet, running on Android Honeycomb. It always seemed rather improbable that Apple would release two generation of its tablet in a single year, but a part of us really wanted to believe it will happen. Yet, the Wall Street Journal just took stage and killed whatever hopes we had left for seeing a Retina display-packing iPad 3 this year.

According to the publication, the Cupertino-based company is aiming at starting trial-production of the iPad 3 in October, so the official launch cannot realistically come sooner than the start of next year. Read more »

HTC’s obviously preparing something bit for September 1st as the company is reportedly organizing four simultaneous meet-up events across Western Europe. HTC is inviting everybody who is interested and says it will reveal “what’s next” and that it will have “a few phone treats”. Carrier billing for Android has landed in Europe – Vodafone is the first operator to do it, starting with the UK and it will soon enable it in Germany too. Vodafone is expected to expand the service to other countries and other carriers should follow suit.

Carrier billing works by charging your phone bill for the apps purchases, so you don’t need a credit card. The simpler process should boost app sales, or so Vodafone hopes. Read more »

In the heat of the social network war between Google+ and Facebook, making mistakes, however simple they are, is not an option. Nevertheless, about a month ago in its effort to shine brighter than the constantly growing presence and usage of Google’s social service, Facebook made a rushed decision. And, as it usually happens with rushed things, it don’t end up much good.

The decision in question involved bringing Facebook chat onto the screen. Permanently. There wasn’t any option to close it or even minimize it. The list of all your friends regardless of their status was poking you in the eyes constantly. Not only was this annoying to look at and use, but it was also messing up with social network’s recent chat integration with Skype. Razer has a reputation for making exciting accessories for the gamers but it seems this time they have something for the audiophiles as well. Although a surround sound headset won’t be high on the list of must-have items of an audiophile, mostly due to the emulation used to create the surround effect, the Tiamat steers clear of such gimmicks. Hot on the heels of the PlayStation 3 price cut comes the news of a new cut-price Nintendo Wii. But the new price tag is not the only feature, as this new cheaper Wii will also be considerably smaller than the current model.
