The recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will cross the English Channel and will arrive at Samsung’s Westfield Brand Store in Stratford (which, coincidentally, is where the Galaxy S III debuted in the UK) this Thursday.

The makers of popular BitTorrent client µTorrent have announced some changes that they will be making in the upcoming version of the application and how they plan on monetizing it.

So far, the free version of µTorrent offered to install toolbars during installation and that was the only source of revenue for the developers from the free version. The next version of µTorrent, however, will include something called “featured torrents”. Read more »

Samsung has often been quick to release the source code for their Android devices after their launch. Keeping with that tradition, they have now released the source code for the Galaxy Note 10.1 on the Samsung Open Source Release Center.

There are not a lot of games on the App Store that can fall under the ‘interactive comedy’ category. In fact, I’m pretty sure The Act is the only one of its kind right now.

The Act was originally launched as an arcade game back in 2007 but was later cancelled. It was then ported over to iOS and published by Chillingo Ltd. The game has been available on the App Store for a while now for $2.99 but is being sold for a dollar for a limited time, so we thought we should give it a try and see how this new method of gameplay is. Recently a DLNA certification revealed that the Sony Xperia LT30i ‘Mint’ will be called Xperia T. Now, XperiaBlog reports that the Sony Xperia LT29i ‘Hayabusa’ will go by the name Xperia TX. The close naming of the two phones makes sense, considering how similar their specs are. Plus, the Hayabusa has already launched in Japan as the Xperia GX.

An Xperia Tablet is also laying in wait in the rumor mill, though some EXIF info from a photo uploaded to Picasa reveals that won’t be it’s final name either. Read more »

The latest bit of juicy information got submitted as evidence yesterday, revealing that Apple offered Samsung the rights to license its patent portfolio for the amount of $30 per smartphone and $40 per tablet back in October, 2010. Read more »

The days of easily finding pirated content on the Internet are slowly be coming to an end. With the recent SOPA/PIPA and Megaupload fiasco, it’s clear that the powers that be are starting to crack down on the pirated content on the Internet by trying to shut down websites that provide them.

The latest move comes from Google, who have announced that they will now start downranking websites that receive valid copyright removal notices. The more notices a website receives, the lower the rank will be of these sites. Read more »

We’ve heard a wide variety of sources claim that the upcoming iPhone will feature a larger display, and today we can add one more to the list.

The term “Metro”, describing Microsoft’s new user interface design gained popularity starting with Windows Phone 7 after its Zune HD beginnings. It really grew into prominence when it became the UI style for Windows 8 and now, not long before its scheduled late October launch date, Microsoft renamed it.

A leaked memo was the first sign that the name “Metro” is on the way out, supposedly due to copyright concerns. “Windows 8 style interface” was suggested as a replacement, but Microsoft may have settled on a simpler name. Read more »

The ill-fated BlackBerry PlayBook recently got a new sibling in the form of the 4G LTE model that, apart from the data connectivity, also brought a faster 1.5GHz dual-core processor.

We reported back then that the tablet was supposed to go on sale in Canada sometime this month, and it has now hit retail. The 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook can now be purchased on Bell and Rogers in Canada for $350 and a three year contract. Read more »

The original Crysis game, which came out back in the distant 2007, is still used as a benchmark for graphics card performance. The graphics in that game were so ahead of their time that you’ll still find it difficult to run the game maxed out at high resolutions and get 60 fps (of course, not the least due to the game’s poor optimization).

Crysis 2 in comparison was nowhere near as taxing as the first one but with the DirectX 11 patch and high resolution texture pack for the PC it would still push your graphics card to its limits while delivering stunning visuals.

From the short trailers we had seen in the past we know the third iteration in the series was going to look even better. But now Crytek has released a new tech trailer for CryEngine 3 that demoes the various new visual effects in all their glory and should send lesser graphics cards running for cover. Read more »

The wait for the next generation Cortex A15-based processors is coming to an end as Samsung has just announced the world’s first SoC that will include a Cortex A15 CPU. Called the Exynos 5 Dual, this SoC has one laundry list of specifications that goes well beyond what other mobile processors offer currently and sets the stage for the next generation mobile devices.

The Exynos 5 Dual or the 5250 is based on the 32nm HKMG process, same as the current Exynos 4 Quad processor. It includes the new dual-core 1.7GHz Cortex A15 CPU along with a brand new Mali-T604 GPU, which is also produced by ARM. Read more »

Google’s Nexus 7 is a milestone in Android’s development, so we were all over it when it came to our office. The Nexus lineup lays down the development direction for Android gadgets in general and Jelly Bean that debuted on this tab is quite interesting indeed. Unlike some previous Nexus gadgets, the Nexus 7 will probably gain a lot of traction with consumers making it even more important.
