The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch has been rumored to come out in tandem with the Galaxy S5. Now a new publication in a Korean media, which claims to be in touch with Samsung insiders, the new generation smartwatch will be announced in March or April.

The announcement is likely to happen in London, probably at an Unpacked event. The insider also claims that Samsung has felt the need to radically change the design of the upcoming Gear. The overhaul will include a new, flexible OLED display. Read more »

Rockstar had launched the mobile version of its critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas game on iOS and Android platforms a while ago and now, the gaming firm has released the action packed title for Windows Phone.

Microsoft is done with 8.1 for its mainline OS (both x86 and RT), now we’re waiting for 8.1 to hits the phone platform. While we wait, we get the occasional leak to give us a better idea on what to expect – like on-screen buttons, a file manager and now redesigned HERE Maps and Games Hub.

A new Lenovo smartphone with the codename Kingdom has appeared on AnTuTu benchmark test results in China. The upcoming smartphone is said to be the successor of the popular K900 smartphone and is expected to take up the flagship responsibility for the rapidly growing Chinese manufacturer.

Announced during CES earlier this month, the Sol Republic Relays are the company’s first entry into the market for headphones geared towards active people. The manufacturer boasts that the headset is the first of its kind to handle casual and sports duties with equal aplomb.

Sol Republic’s claim to have created an ultra-compact, water resistant, and perfectly fitting headset in the Relays sounds almost too good to be true. Microsoft is big on uniformity with their Windows Phone brand: you’re not going to see any skinned versions of their quickly rising mobile platform anytime soon. As a result, manufacturers also face some hardware restrictions. Maximum screen resolution and maximum processor speed caps are part of the territory.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is an upcoming third person action adventure game by publisher Warner Bros. and developer Monolith Productions. The game is set in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe and takes place between the Hobbit and the trilogy books.

In this gameplay walkthrough, we get a good look at what we can expect in terms of gameplay when the game is released later this year on the PC and consoles. You play as Talion, a ranger of Gondor and Guardian of the Black Gate who lost everyone who knew at the hands of Sauron and his minions. The game is a third person action adventure and borrows quite a bit from some other games such as the Assassin’s Creed series and the Batman Arkham series but with several new gameplay features as well. Nokia’s latest commercial is yet again advertising the awesome 41MP PureView camera of Lumia 1020. This time around Nokia is trying to convince you the Lumia 1020 is a great replacement for your DSLR.

Recently, with the Lumia Black firmware update, the Lumia 1020 camera algorithm was rewritten to behave like it did on the first PureView phone – the Nokia 808. The result is more natural colors, less noise and more detail. Read more »

Microsoft will be releasing an update to the current Windows 8.1 OS, tentatively called Windows 8.1 Update 1, on March 11, according to ZDNet. The update will brings several under the hood changes, as well as a bunch of user facing ones that will help bridge the gap between the desktop and ‘Metro’ modes.

One of the new changes said to be present in Update 1 is the ability to pin Metro-style apps to the taskbar in the desktop mode. This will allow you to launch those app quickly just as you would a standard desktop app. You can also hover over the icons of minimized apps to see a thumbnail preview. Lastly, Metro-style apps are also said to get a close button that will make it easier and more obvious on how to quit an app. Read more »

The Desire 700 dual-SIM sports a design that was clearly inspired by the HTC One, only instead of a premium aluminum body the Desire 700 opts for plastic. The latter is unfortunately quite smudge-prone due to its glossiness, and the specs also fall short of HTC’s flagship, but the device is more than just a follower in the footsteps of greatness. Sony has a history of releasing bite-sized iterations of their popular gaming consoles that perform better, are quieter, and consume less power. So when the Japanese hardware manufacturer announced it will reveal its “slimmest” Playstation device ever, one might assume that they would announce a trimmed down Playstation 3.

Microsoft has announced its earnings report for the fourth quarter and the company has managed to better its performance from the previous year. The company has racked up a record $24.52 billion in revenue in 2013 as compared to the $21.5 billion in 2012.

The gross margin read $16.24 billion, while the operating income, net income and diluted earnings per share read $7.97 billion, $6.56 billion and $0.78 per share, respectively. Read more »

This past Thursday, an LG tablet with the model name VK810 was cleared with the FCC. It’s designed to work with Verizon’s 4G network and judging by the dimensions of the device, it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s going to be LG’s G Pad 8.3.

Nokia’s Android prototype codenamed Normandy has leaked numerous times before in live pictures, official renders, detailed specs and more. We pretty much know everything there is to know about the Normandy but one – will it ever go official.

One of the recent leaks gave us a glimpse of Nokia’s proprietary Android launcher. The guys over TechRadar made a concept video of the interface based on those leaked screenshots. It looks really nice and is definitely a breath of fresh air among the competition. The Metro-like parts of the UI may not be everybody’s cup of tea though. Read more »

San Diego-based Qualcomm has purchased mobile patents from PC giant Hewlett-Packard, giving the mobile chipset manufacturer 2,400 mobile patents for an undisclosed amount.

Many of the patents now controlled by Qualcomm include those of now-defunct Palm, which was purchased by HP in 2010 for $1.2 billion. Read more »
