The new Formula 1 season is right around the corner and guess what has Mercedes F1 team new driver Lewis Hamilton brought along to the official launch of the car he and Nico Rosberg will be driving in 2013? Unfortunately, if you guessed Nicole Scherzinger, you are wrong.

Apple gets a trademark for their retail store design

Apple has been granted a trademark for the distinctive design of their chain of retail stores. Although the claim was rejected twice in the past, Apple managed to successfully convince the US Patent and Trademark office the third time with a lengthy, 122-page document detailing the reasons.

The trademark includes use of items such as a paneled facade of glass, recessed lighting units and lined rectangular tables, but as usual, the trademark is for the sum of parts rather than any individual item. Read more »

Apple no longer Wall Street’s most valuable company

Apple’s stock continued to take hits even after the company posted a record breaking financial result for Q1, 2013. The drop in the stock’s price was so severe that it resulted in Exxon Mobil surpassing Apple’s market cap value, to become the most valuable Wall street company once again.

Apple’s market cap is currently at 413.06B against that of Exxon’s 418.23B. Apple, held the leader position since August 2011, but now it had to give it back to the petrol giant. Read more »

A scene from the upcoming jOBS movie starring Ashton Kutcher leaks

As you probably know Ashton Kutcher is going to star in a movie dedicated the life of Steve Jobs dubbed simply “jOBS”. All we’ve seen so far were photos of Kutcher dressed in Jobs’ classic attire, but now we get to see a whole scene from the movie prior to its launch.

The scene in question shows Kutcher (Jobs) and Josh Gad (Wozniak) discussing the concept of an operating system in the parking lot of HP. Read more »

Ah, the poor Xperia Z. It’s not even launched yet, and it has already gone through a considerable amount of abuse. Still, Sony reckons it’s not enough to get users convinced, so now it has added a new variable to the torture equation – sand.

The Sony Xperia Z is one of the hottest smartphones of the season and for a good reason – it’s got a 5″ 1080p screen, quad-core Krait processor, good looking all-glass body and last but not least it is IP57 certified, meaning it’s not afraid of a little dust and water.

Watch the new Game of Thrones teaser, the third season is inching closer

The highly successful TV series Game of Thrones by HBO is getting ready for its third season on the small (or big) screen of your TV. The new teaser is here and it’s three times longer than the one released back in December.

That said, it’s irritatingly short as it only runs for 45 seconds. Yeah, I hate teasers, I am more of a trailer type of guy. But I digress. The first episode of the new season will be aired on March 31. Read more »

Installous is no more, iOS users to find jailbreak apps elsewhere

I wish I didn’t have to start the New Year with bad news, but some iOS users will be left really disappointed after this. The iOS repository for jailbreak apps has shut down.

It was the place where most of the non Apple-approved iOS apps (but also lots of pirated apps) come from. The official reason for the shutdown, according the Hackulous team, is the stagnating forum, but to be honest that sounds hard to believe. Read more »

Samsung will unveil Smart Hub TVs at CES, releases a teaser video for a mystery TV

Samsung is teasing a new TV that will be unveiled at CES early next year. The video is obscure as can be, but the company’s Flickr account has several images of the revamped Smart TVs, which will be showcased at CES too, and are slightly more generous with the details.

The new Smart Hub promises easier to use interface and it will serve as a content platform – the TVs will handle broadcast television as well as on-demand TV shows and movies, browse photos and support apps too. Read more »

LG takes jabs at Apple with an Optimus G ad published all over the Korean press

Dell abandons its smartphone business, waves goodbye to Android and Windows Phone

In a rather unexpected move, Dell announced it is quitting the smartphone market altogether as of next year.

The news was delivered by Jeff Clarke, Dell’s head of consumer business at the Dell World Conference. The reason behind the decision is that “It needs a lot of investments to really be successful”. Read more »
