Computer manufacturers are hot on making their own tablets. Tablets with slim and sleek hardware, ARM-based CPUs and tablet-oriented opeating systems seem to be the the future of portable computing and entertainment and every manufacturers wants in. Well, it’s Sony’s turn with Sir Howard Stringer, Sony’s CEO, just went ahead and confirmed the company’s plans of unveiling a tablet.
Apple may have tightened the security on the iOS 4.3 with the .1 update, but the developers have beaten them once again. The new redsn0w version is out and it jailbreaks every Apple device running (officially) iOS 4.3.1, but the iPad 2 and the CDMA iPhone 4.

We’ve come across a new promo video of the HTC Flyer. It’s highlights the main features that distinguish the Flyer from the pack of Android 3.0 Honeycomb-running tabs and slates out there. And it’s a six-minute video, so you can imagine it gets pretty detailed.
The video is very good, actually, and fun to watch. It shows some pretty sweet organizing stuff, like taking notes with audio and pictures and even handwritten remarks thanks to the HTC Scribe technology.
A very important thing we noticed is that the Flyer demonstrates in the video the new lock screen on HTC Sense 3.0. We also saw this on the Sprint version of the HTC EVO 3D. It gives you the choice of 4 apps, which you can open directly from the lock screen. Those can be rearranged however you like. It makes us think that the Flyer might keep other goodies under its hood.
But I can’t help to notice that its makers have borrowed really heavily from Sony and Apple – to a point where it gets confusing. A tablet like no other? Really? Read more »

Vimeo has just launched its official iOS app. You can watch all the Vimeo videos and upload yours. But wait, there is more – the app offers quite a capable video editor too.
You can record videos directly from the Vimeo app interface and edit them. You can trim or combine videos, add external audio tracks or even subtitles and choose different transition effect.
Google has just announced it’s done testing the in-app billing functionality and it’s now available to the developers and supported by the Android Market.
The in-app billing will allow the try-and-buy apps, upgrades and other virtual goods – similar to the in-app billing within the Apple AppStore.

The iOS 5 is likely to be released in the fall instead this June at the WWDC. There are a few reasons to believe so and the first one is we heard nothing about a new iOS version around the iPad 2 announcement.
Then there is this thing about the Apple’s change of strategy about the MobileMe services and their possible integration with the iOS 5 – which is a lot of work to achieve.
The Android Market will soon be getting in-app purchasing and billing functionality. The new function has now entered into a testing cycle and is due to become official next week.
Asus has made an ad for their upcoming Eee Pad Transformer and it looks surprisingly… bad. It’s based on the popular Big Bang Theory TV series and consists of dorky humor, 70s hair styles and a “I know where this is going before it’s happened” plotline. The actors also use the word “product” one too many times.
The Eee Pad Transformer itself is being released today in Taiwan and in the US in April. It will have Android 3.0 Honeycomb preinstalled, 10.1-inch 1280×800 display and a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor inside.
