Following the successful treatment it gave the original, DODOcase launched its line of locally handcrafted covers for the 2013 ASUS Nexus 7. The San-Francisco based designer and maker of bookbound cases has an entire collection on offer for the second generation of the most popular slate in the Android realm.
I managed to spend some quality time with the DODOcase Color Block for the new Nexus 7. Inspired by the artist journals from the past, the cover offers a fresh take with a classic twist on the tablet case concept. Read more »
Apple has been making docks for the iPhone, iPod and the iPad for a while now. But last year’s iPhone 5 launch didn’t see the release of a corresponding dock, which would have led most people to believe that Apple has given up on the idea.
But turns out, that is not the case. This year, Apple has not one but two docks for both the new iPhones, and they are available for $29 each. The docks are slightly different, with the 5c dock having a bigger slot to accommodate the slightly different shape. By the looks of things it seems you can use the 5c dock with both the 5c and the 5s but the 5s dock can only accommodate the 5s and the older 5. Read more »
Apple has designed its own cases to sell with the upcoming iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. The iPhone 5c cases are made of silicon and come in six colors – white, red, yellow, green, blue and black.
The iPhone 5c cases surely look unorthodox, though we are not sure those holes at the back will appeal to everyone. As a matter of fact, we believe they only go well with Crocs and we are not sure that’s a compliment, either. Read more »
While Samsung was announcing its Galaxy Gear smartwatch yesterday, Qualcomm was busy announcing its own smartwatch, called the Toq. Pronounced as “talk”, the Qualcomm Toq pairs with your existing Android smartphone and brings all your notifications where you can see them at a glance.
The main feature of the Qualcomm Toq is the unique Mirasol display. Developed by Qualcomm, Mirasol is a type of interferometric modulator display that works without the need of a backlight. Just like e-paper displays, Mirasol displays can stay on constantly without requiring power and are perfectly visible even under bright sunlight. But Mirasol goes one step ahead of current e-paper displays and is capable of displaying full color and it also uses the ambient light as a backlight, thus significantly reducing the power consumption. Along with the HTC Desire 601 and Desire 300 today, HTC also introduced a curious Bluetooth accessory, called HTC BoomBass. Now, portable Bluetooth speakers come a dime a dozen but this one is not a full-range speaker. Instead, it’s only a subwoofer, designed to amplify the bass sounds only.
The tiny subwoofer measures 64 x 64 x 64mm and HTC says it’s a great match for its range of smartphones, which have a set of already great sounding stereo speakers (BoomSound), but lack the punch you only get from proper bass. Current smartphones, featuring the said dual speakers setup are the HTC one, the HTC Desire 600 dual sim and even the just announced HTC Desire 601. Read more »
We have been hearing about and seen some images of Sony’s outlandish camera accessory for smartphones that is basically a giant camera that snaps onto the back of your existing smartphone. Now we have some more images, along with the prices these devices will be selling for.
As we had learned before, there will be two of these, with varying specifications. Named the SmartShot QX10 and the SmartShot QX100, the former will have an 18 megapixel sensor with f/3.3-5.9 optics whereas the latter will have a 20.2 megapixel camera with f/1.8-4.9 optics. Read more »
We all know Samsung is working on a smartwatch that would be announced at the IFA event in Berlin next month along with the Galaxy Note III. Samsung themselves have confirmed both devices. But we are yet to get a glimpse of what either devices will look like.
While we haven’t made much progress on that front, we do have what looks like legit screenshots of the Galaxy Gear application that would control the smartwatch. The app is supposedly responsible for letting you pair your smartphone with the watch using NFC, personalize it using different clock faces and even send compatible applications over. Read more »

You may remember the HTC Mini accessory that was announced along with the HTC Butterfly. It was a tiny Bluetooth device that could be used as phone once paired with your main smartphone. It would let you make and receive calls and remotely control certain features of your HTC smartphone, such as the camera and the multimedia playback.
HTC has now quietly announced the successor to that accessory, called the HTC Mini+. The Mini+ looks pretty much identical to the Mini and the functionality is more or less the same. The Mini+, along with being able to receive calls and messages, also has a built-in laser pointer and a slideshow button. You can also use the built-in IR blaster to control your television.
