BlackBerry PlayBook can emulate iOS as well?

By now we’re all familiar with the PlayBook’s ability to run Android apps, but a video has surfaced allegedly showing iOS running on the RIM tablet.

Apple App Store passes 30 billion downloads mark, $5 billion paid to developers

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has just announced the iOS App Store has passed the 30 billion download milestone.

Today the App Store has more than 650 000 apps, 225 000 of them specifically designed for the iPads. There are also 400 million App Store accounts from 120 countries around the world with attached credit cards to them. Read more »

Apple gets fined $2.35 million for false 4G advertising in Australia

Australia’s Consumer and Competition Commission has fined Apple $2.25 million AUD, plus legal fees, for advertising misleading 4G capabilities on the new iPad.

The device is rated to work only on the 700Mhz and 2100Mhz 4G bands, which are currently not supported in Australia. Read more »

Facebook App Center goes live

The Facebook App Center that we talked about before has now gone live. Currently, it is only available on the web version of Facebook but it should soon arrive on iOS and Android as well.

Like we said before, the App Center will house all the web apps and games that you currently play on Facebook in one place and also add mobile apps to the mix. However, unlike other mobile app stores, the Facebook App Center won’t actually house the mobile apps but will direct you to the application stores of their respective platforms. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy S III and the Apple iPhone 4S enter a drop test, only one survives

Samsung just brought the Galaxy S III to the market and it immediately had to face an Apple iPhone 4S in a drop test.

AndroidAuthority decided to redo the drop test from last year, when the Galaxy S II met the iPhone 4S on the sidewalk curb, and survived thanks to its Gorilla Glass screen. Now, the Galaxy S III comes with Gorilla Glass 2, so it’s interesting to see how it’ll fare in the same challenge. Read more »

Microsoft SkyDrive for iPad gets updated, shakes hands with the Retina display

Microsoft SkyDrive for Apple’s iPad got bumped up to version 2.1. The app’s update brings support for the Retina Display of the popular slate’s latest incarnation.

picplz to shut down permanently on July 3

By now you may have heard about or used the picplz service. They had mobile apps on iOS and Android that allowed you to capture, edit and upload image on to their servers. From there the users had the option to share the image to other social networking services.

picplz has now announced that it will be shutting down permanently on July 3. Their iOS and Android apps have also been pulled from the App Store and the Play Store respectively. Read more »

Fruit Ninja celebrates two year anniversary with a major update

Fruit Ninja, one of the most popular mobile games of all time, is celebrating its two year anniversary and developer HalfbrickStudios has released a major update for the game.

Fruit Ninja now includes a new currency system in the form of the Starfruit. You get a thousand of these once you install the update and get more as you play the game. Google updates Search app for iOS
