Microsoft to allegedly release iOS and Android version of Office in November

Rumors have been flying around about a version of Microsoft Office for the iOS for a while now but now BGR is reporting that not only will there be a version of Office for iOS but also for Android and both will be launching together in November.

This information comes from one of their sources who has seen the application running on an iPad and says that it looks identical to the one we have seen before. After that image first came out, Microsoft later said that the screenshot in the picture was fake but The Daily, who leaked the screenshot, said it was authentic and that it was someone from Microsoft who demoed it to them. First footage of Infinity Blade: Dungeons surfaces

Infinity Blade, the all-conquering iOS title, has shifted direction, which is evident in the new gameplay video of the Infinity Blade: Dungeons.

The game now looks much more like Dungeon Hunter with the main character battling against all sorts of enemies in a maze-type arena complete with an overhead gaming view. Read more »

Apple will equip the next iPhone with a 4-inch or larger screen, WSJ says

The Apple iPhone 4S is starting to look a little dated now and even though its successor won’t get its official announcement for at least another few months, rumors are already starting to fly around.

The latest one comes from the Wall Street Journal, citing “people familiar with the situation” and saying Apple is set to put a screen measuring at least 4-inch on the next iPhone. Read more »

iPhone-controlled BMW and Audi RC cars are impressively cool

After introducing the Angry Birds RC helicopter, iHelicopter are launching their luxury iPhone-controllable SUV, saloon and sports cars.

The new luxury RC garage consists of an Audi Q7, BMW 5 F10, BMW X6 and Audi R8, each costing $59.95, which is considerably less than their full-size versions. Read more »

Apple renames iPad Wi-Fi + 4G to iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular in certain regions following complaints

Apple has changed the nomenclature for the new iPad in select markets from the iPad Wi-Fi + 4G to a more vague iPad W-Fi + Cellular. This is due to customer complaints regarding the use of the term “4G” after the launch of the new iPad a couple of months ago.

Recently, Apple was sued in Australia because they referred to it as iPad Wi-Fi + 4G, even though the 4G LTE functionality does not work on Australia’s LTE network. Read more »

Apple to drop Google Maps in iOS 6 in favor of in-house Maps with cool 3D mode

iOS 6 will reportedly ditch its current version of Maps with Google-driven data at the backend in favor of its own in-house Maps module. While this is not shocking at all, what 9to5Mac sources report is that the app will also feature a breathtaking 3D mode.

Featuring a similar design to the current Maps application, the substitute one is said to be faster, cleaner and hopefully will provide a more reliable user experience. Read more »

Google+ app for iOS gets updated, looks better than the Android version

The iOS version of Google+ has always trailed behind Android and for obvious reasons. Android belongs to Google so naturally they would want to take better care of their users. But with the latest update to the iOS app, the tables have turned.

Google has taken what was a mundane looking app to something that looks absolutely stunning on the iPhone. Your stream has been completely revamped and instead of a simple looking list of posts you now see the posts listed with big image thumbnails. Read more »

Gameloft shows Men in Black 3 trailer, says Asphalt 7 game is coming soon

Gameloft has a couple of new mobile game titles incoming. The first is a sequel to the long-running racing series Asphalt – Asphalt 7: Heat, while the other is a tie-in game with the upcoming Man in Black 3 movie.

Asphalt 7: Heat was first unveiled during the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S III phone, but with all the excitement, a lot of people didn’t notice. Read more »

Proview and Apple to settle out of court on the iPad trademark case

In case you’ve forgotten, Proview and Apple are still in a legal battle over who owns the rights to use the ‘iPad’ name in China.

Apple gives credit where it’s due – acknowledges Open Street Maps in iPhoto

Back when Apple released its iPhoto app with the arrival of the new iPad some people noted that the company was using map data that doesn’t look Googlish in origin.

Some digging in the matter revealed that Apple (who back then claimed they were using Gmaps) is using Open Street Maps with a custom overlay on top. Now we see an acknowledgement to OSM in the latest iPhoto version. Read more »

The new iPad 2,4 with a 32nm A5 chipset offers noticeably better battery life

You may or may not have already heard that Apple has geared its previous generation iPad – the iPad 2 – with a new processor. The chipset is still the same but the new core processor inside is built on the 32nm technology rather than the 45nm the original iPad 2 used. This isn’t news – it was uncovered a while ago along with the discovery that the new Apple TV uses such chips too.

What’s interesting however, is that today we saw one of the first reviews of this updated product and by the looks of it, the new chip manufacturing technology makes a special difference in the power efficiency department. Read more »

Good news for iPhone 4 users who were either running an older version of iOS for the jailbreak or running iOS 5.1 but were waiting for a proper untethered jailbreak.

Apple rejecting apps that use the Dropbox SDK and allow purchases outside the app

Apple is under fire once again due to its App Store policies, this time for rejecting apps that use the Dropbox SDK. It goes like this: some developers were found complaining on Dropbox forums that their apps made using the Dropbox SDK are being rejected by Apple.

The reason given by Apple for these rejections is that these apps do not use in-app purchasing and instead open Safari and take the user to the Dropbox site and lets them purchase additional storage from there. Apple has had this rule for some time now that any app-related purchase should always take place within the app itself using in-app purchasing and not outside the app. Any app found in violation of this rule will be rejected or removed. Skype for iOS update brings UI changes and improved performance

The Skype app for iOS got updated and brings with it some useful changes. The list of new features includes the ability to move your own video preview around. You know, the little window that appears at the bottom of the screen during a video call.

Other changes include a new UI design for contacts, messages and log in screen, improved accessibility, improved stability and bug fixes. The iPad version of the app also received these changes except for the UI redesign. Read more »
