Apple completely loses the plot, revokes Computer Bild magazine accreditation over #bendgate video

by 317 comments

Just when we thought that the whole #bendage thing was behind us, here comes Apple to reignite it all over again. The company has revoked the press accreditation of German magazine Computer Bild after it published a video of its editor-in-chief bending iPhone 6 Plus and then failing to do so with the Galaxy Note 3.

Now whether or not an €800 phone should bend like that or if you should apply such force to it is beyond the point here. What’s important is Apple’s reaction to the case. Read more »

An LG Nexus tablet pops up in an import manifest

by 22 comments

According to manifest documents from Indian imports tracker Zauba, somebody has brought a prototype LG Nexus tablet into the country. It sounds pretty reasonable to guess that this may as well be the Nexus 8 we saw mentioned earlier this month in a similar manifest.

Of course, it may as well be a 10-inch slate as it’s been a while since Google released theirs. Interestingly, the last two compact Nexus tablets were made by Asus and both received stellar reviews so it would be surprising to see Google move production to LG. Read more »

LG G Pad 8.3 now available for just 119 quid in the UK

by 13 comments

Looking to strike a great deal on a mid-sized tablet? Well if you live in the UK you probably need to look no further than the LG G Pad 8.3. The slate, which we reviewed and really liked a while ago, can now be had for just £119.

Update: It appears the stock has been depleted rather quickly and the offer is currently unavailable. It’s unclear if there’s new stock on the way or if that was all about the promotion.

For the price you are getting an 8.3″ IPS LCD of 1200 x 1920 pixel resolution, a Snapdragon 600 chipset and a sleek metallic body that only weighs 338g. Even the Nexus 7 (2013) looks rather overpriced in comparison to this offer. Read more »
