An LG Nexus tablet pops up in an import manifest

by 22 comments

According to manifest documents from Indian imports tracker Zauba, somebody has brought a prototype LG Nexus tablet into the country. It sounds pretty reasonable to guess that this may as well be the Nexus 8 we saw mentioned earlier this month in a similar manifest.

Of course, it may as well be a 10-inch slate as it’s been a while since Google released theirs. Interestingly, the last two compact Nexus tablets were made by Asus and both received stellar reviews so it would be surprising to see Google move production to LG. Read more »

The Asus VivoTab RT TF600T is getting on two years old now and Amazon is clearing out its stock by slashing the original price to just $175. The Windows RT platform is drying up on the vine, but getting a 10.1″ tablet under $200 is still a pretty good deal.

LG G Pad 8.3 now available for just 119 quid in the UK

by 13 comments

Looking to strike a great deal on a mid-sized tablet? Well if you live in the UK you probably need to look no further than the LG G Pad 8.3. The slate, which we reviewed and really liked a while ago, can now be had for just £119.

Update: It appears the stock has been depleted rather quickly and the offer is currently unavailable. It’s unclear if there’s new stock on the way or if that was all about the promotion.

For the price you are getting an 8.3″ IPS LCD of 1200 x 1920 pixel resolution, a Snapdragon 600 chipset and a sleek metallic body that only weighs 338g. Even the Nexus 7 (2013) looks rather overpriced in comparison to this offer. Read more »

Carmageddon was one of the earliest racing games I ever played and certainly the goriest. The classic has been available on mobiles (iOS and Android) for a while now, but if you didn’t want to pay $2 for a hit of nostalgia then now is your chance – the game is temporarily free.

The offer is available for both platforms too, on iOS it’s part of App of the day. Read more »

Asus Zenfone 4 hands-on

by 9 comments

Asus Zenfone 4 is the smallest and most affordable member of the new Zenfone family. It comes with a 4″ WVGA IPS display and runs on the dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 1.2GHz processor. The rest of the specs include PowerVR SGX 544MP2 graphics, 1GB of RAM, 4GB expandable storage and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in charge of operations. Asus has announced it will be launching Android 4.3 Jelly Bean but will be getting KitKat shortly after.

The Zenfone 4 is made entirely of matte plastic and is a bit thicker compared to its siblings. It is a dual-SIM device with a snappy chipset at an extraordinary price though, so we are ready to forgive it the extra few millimeters around the waistline. Read more »

In the hottest-selling weekend of the year (between Black Friday and Cyber Monday) Amazon has, once again, sold a record number of Kindle talbets.

What’s the number – well, Amazon doesn’t say. Can we compare it with last year’s record number – no, Amazon didn’t say then either. All we know is the Kindle Fire HDX 7″ and Fire HD were the best-sellers in the Kindle family. Read more »
