In addition to multiple new and cool APIs for developers, Hugo Barra introduced Google Play Game Service which introduces leaderboards, game progress saves in the cloud, real-time multiplayer and game achievements.

NVIDIA surprised everyone at CES with its Project SHIELD handheld gaming console and now the chip maker released the full specs along with launch date and price. SHIELD is powered by NVIDIA’s own Tegra 4 chipset, which packs for Cortex-A15 cores, a fifth power-saver core and a mobile GeForce GPU.
The gadget runs pure Android 4.2 with TegraZone pre-installed – this is a repository of Tegra-optimized games. In an impressive demo, SHIELD ran a ported PlayStation 3 game with better graphics than the PS3. Read more »
Circulets is the newest two-player game from India-based Hashstash Studios. The game is now available for both iOS and Android.
Circulets involves collecting circles or ‘circulets’ towards your side of the screen. The one with the most points in the end wins the game. The game sounds simple and fun in theory and also looks quite pretty, so we decided to take it for a spin. Read more »
Rovio has just announced the latest update for the Angry Birds Seasons game. Dubbed Abra-Ca-Bacon, the new release is set to bring some interesting features to the franchise.
One of them is the addition of Magic Portals which allows you to teleport Angry Birds, Bad Piggies and everything else in the game. Furthermore, there are 30 new levels joined by six bonus levels for your unlocking pleasure. Read more »
Gameloft’s Asphalt 7: Heat racing game is now free in the Apple’s AppStore. It was released in June 2012 on iOS and until now it maintained the $0.99 price tag.

Things were going well for the Ouya team – they were accelerating the rate of shipments for Kickstarter backers and the console design got a great reparability score from iFixit. It turns out a bit too well as now they’ve pushed back the retail launch by a three weeks to meet higher than expected demand from retailers.
The original launch was planned for June 4, but the new launch target is June 25. This means more Ouya consoles will be manufactured and be put on the shelves on launch day. Read more »

One of the few exciting things we saw at CES this past January was the announcement of Nvidia’s new Android-running handheld gaming console codenamed SHIELD, powered by its new Tegra 4 chipset.
While not much has been heard of SHIELD or Tegra 4 since, a recently-spotted benchmark in AnTuTu reveals that the SoC is not only still alive and kicking, but has the potential to be a real contender when it comes to next generation mobile performance. Read more »
One of the main gripes people have with Rovio and its games is that progress isn’t synced from one device to another. The company has listened and as a result has introduced Rovio accounts yesterday.
Signing up for an account requires just an email address and that’s it. Once you’ve registered you can set up your games to sync between your phone and tablet for instance. Sadly, not all of the Rovio titles are supported just yet. Read more »
Rovio has released a new app for the Angry Birds classic game for Windows Phone. It contains over 100 new levels and is available for every Windows Phone-powered handset out there.
The new Angry Birds app is compatible with Windows 7.5, 7.8 and 8.0-based phones, even those with 256MB of RAM. It comes with Xbox integration for WP8 version. Read more »

I remember when I first installed Doom 3 on my computer in 2004 – it struggled at even the lowest resolution. Now we have a Doom 3 port for Android phones, because that’s how far smartphone performance has gone.
Doom 3, like many other id Software games, got open sourced, which allowed the creation of many ports, including this one. The dev behind this one is the same that brought the Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Quake III ports. Read more »
