After it failed to impose a ban on Apple to sell the iPad in China because of its overdue trademark rights on the “IPAD” name, now Proview International has asked a Superior Court in Santa Clara, California to seize Apple from selling them iPads, read this, in the United States.

In December 2009 Proview agreed on selling their “IPAD” name trademark to Apple subsidiary IP Application Development but now claims that Apple made false statements before the agreement. Apple has acquired Chomp. A small 20 people company focused on app discovery on the iOS and Android. This step from Apple means that the company is hard at work on a future revamp of the App Store and specifically the search and app suggestion part of it.

Chomp launched back in 2009 and since then raised more than $2.5 million in funding. With its acquisition by Apple, the whole Chomp team is transferring over to Cuppertino with all the app finding technology and future plans for development. Read more »

Both NVidia and Samsung have been hyping their quad-core system-on-a-chip monsters but the smug on their face is about to get wiped. NVidia’s, at least.

That’s because Texas Instruments, not to be left out of the whole quad-core SoC mash-up, has released a video showcasing its OMAP 5 brute power. More specifically, it’s the OMAP 5430 with two A15 cores helped by two companion M4 cores alongisde a SGX544 MP2 graphics chip. It takes on the ASUS Transformer Prime with its 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A9 (Tegra 3, or 4-PLUS-1) beating in its shell. Read more »

Rockstar keeps delivering great news to gamers around the planet today. First it was the new trailer of the upcoming Max Payne 3 and now the game studio confirms that the original Max Payne game will hit iOS and Android devices “very soon”.

A year ago Mozilla announced its plans for a mobile OS based on web standards called Boot2Gecko (B2G). Then, in November last year the company showed us simple drawings of its prototype mobile OS and now it has come to this – Boot2Gecko is out for everyone to taste.

Yep, the game which is literally available on almost any device on the planet, be it mobile or not, is now available on Facebook, too. The only surprise here is what took Rovio so long?

Google is close to launching its very own Cloud Storage service, at least according to the Wall Street Journal. The file-storing service in question would be in direct rivalry against Dropbox, one of the hottest cloud-storage providers out there.

The main purpose of Google’s cloud service, called “Drive”, will be to meet users needs for storing files when using mobile devices like smartphone, tablets and laptops and to eliminate the need to manually sync them across desktops and vice versa, according to people, who are close to the development of Drive.
