Google I/O 2012 registration will be open 7AM PDT today, event starts June 27 [UPDATE: Tickets already sold out]

Google has put up its website for the 2012 Google I/O developer conference in San Francisco. Registration for the event will be open starting 7AM PDT in less than too hours, too, with regular tickets costing $900.

Starting June 27, the two-day conference promises to be interesting to say the least. Google is rumored to announce its sub $200 tablet, said to compete with the Kindle Fire. Read more »

Facebook rolls out high-resolution photo viewing plus a full-screen view mode

Following its update of the Photo viewer back in February, Facebook starts rolling out a new feature to allow viewing pictures in even higher resolution.

Windows Phone 7 Tango doesn’t actually allow up to 8 apps to run in the background

Remember when we told you that Tango, the latest update to Windows Phone 7, supports up to eight running applications in the background? Well, this turns out not to be true, as HTC HD2 developer HD2Owner over at XDA Developers proves.

The new Photoshop CS6 is ready for download, in beta

Adobe has launched Photoshop CS6 Beta for you to test out. It’s available as a free download from the source link below and once installed will greet you with loads of new features and improvements.

Right off the bat, you’ll notice that the user interface of the new Photoshop has been redesigned. Gone is the default light theme of the application and replacing it is a darker styled look, which Adobe says creates a more distracting-free environment to work in. Read more »

Chrome managed to temporarily become the most used browser

It has finally happened! Internet Explorer and all of its versions got kicked out of their cozy throne as the world’s most popular browser by the new kid on the browser block – Google Chrome.

Sadly, this happened only for a brief day. According to StatCounter’s data, Chrome’s victory only lasted 24 hours, on March 18 and IE has claimed its old position on the top spot since then.

Samsung Galaxy S III to support wireless charging out of the box?

More rumors on the upcoming Galaxy S III have hit the mill and the latest one suggest that the next Samsung flagship will be using wireless charging, rather than the conventional microUSB charging.

According to DDaily, the back of the device will integrate all the elements needed for wireless charging and you won’t even have to place the smartphone on a charging pad. Rumor has it that it will work even with the Galaxy S III located as far away as two meters from it. Read more »

Viber for Symbian confirmed, Maemo stays ignored in the corner

Symbian Nokia OS fans, rejoice! Viber officially confirmed that its famous free calling app will be getting support for your platform soon.

The good news came, weirdly, from the Maemo community forum, but since they were delivered directly by Viber representatives they are as official as it gets. They confirmed that a Viber version compatible with the Nokia proprietary platform is under development, but sadly, Maemo users will have to wait a bit more. Read more »

Apple plans to spend $45 billion on dividend and share buyback programs

Just before Apple’s conference call on deciding the course of action for its enormous mountain of cash, the company announced its plans to initiate a dividend and share repurchase programs.

In the fourth quarter of the fiscal 2012, starting July 1, Apple will initiate a quarterly dividend of $2.65 per share. Not only that, but the guys over at Cupertino will set aside $10 billion for a share repurchasing program, starting September 30. Read more »
