Twitter has released updated versions of their mobile apps, with the Android version getting the bulk of the changes. Among the list of improvements common to both iOS and Android versions is a new Discover view, which shows a single stream of tweets, trends, activity and accounts to follow.

The search has also been update and now presents you with accounts, tweets and pictures relevant to your query. The Connect tab has been updated to show only Interactions view now but you can switch it to show only mentions from the Settings menu. Read more »

The Kickstarter funded Android gaming console OUYA is finally set to go out in the hands of anxious Kickstarer backers and eventually, regular customers. But turns out, a newer version of the console isn’t too far away from now.

Talking to Engadget, CEO of OUYA Julie Uhrman said that “There will be a new OUYA every year. There will be an OUYA 2 and an OUYA 3.” What OUYA is aiming for is a smartphone-like update strategy, where they will update the console every year with newer processors and more memory. Read more »

Amazon has announced Amazon Coins for Kindle Fire owners, which will provide them a new way to purchase apps, games and in-app content on their devices.

Amazon says it will give customers tens of millions of dollars’ worth of Amazon Coins to spend on the Amazon Appstore, which in turn will help generate more revenue for the developers. The new currency will be available starting April 25 and developers need to submit and get their apps before then. Read more »

Back when Instagram was started, the only web presence the company had was a single page for each of the images that you uploaded from their web app and nothing else (not counting the blog). This was rectified a few months ago, when they released web profiles, that allowed you to check full profiles of users on the website with all their pictures.

OUYA, the Kickstarter funded Android based game console is now in its final stages. According to CEO Julie Uhrman, the console will start shipping to Kickstarter backers in March.

Walt Disney Studios showcased an ‘extended’ trailer of their upcoming superhero movie, Iron Man 3, during the Super Bowl. Why the word ‘extended’ is in quotes is something you will have to see for yourself when you watch the trailer.

The trailer also shows Iron Man attempting to rescue a whole bunch of people falling from a damaged airplane and cuts just before we see how he manages to save thirteen people when he can just carry four. Read more »

Twitter users on Android have been waiting for this day for a long time now but it’s finally here. After being teased for almost a year, the developers of Carbon have finally released the Twitter client on the Play Store.

The app was shown off on Twitter last year and then an early alpha was released for a few users. After that the app was delayed indefinitely because the developers could not release it as a paid app on Play Store as it wasn’t supported in their region. After that it was announced that the app would be released as a free app but even that got postponed indefinitely. Read more »

Little Inferno made its public debut last year as one of the launch titles for the Nintendo Wii U. Made by the designers of the popular game World of Goo and Henry Hatsworth, the game was lauded for its unique gameplay and won many awards. After that it was released on Steam and has now made an appearance on the mobile platform with the iPad version.

Almost three years after the launch of Epic Citadel for iOS, Epic Games has finally released the Android version of the app on the Google Play Store.

For those who are not aware, Epic Citadel is based on the Unreal Engine 3, and back when it was released on iOS, served as a way to highlight the capabilities of the engine on the mobile platform (it was later put into use in Infinity Blade). On the Android version, however, Epic Games has built-in a benchmarking utility, which helps gauge the performance of the hardware as well. Read more »

Sony has announced a new service for their range of Xperia smartphones, called my Xperia. The beta version of the service will roll out to a few devices initially before it is available to all Xperia devices out there.

Sony has released a teaser video for the PlayStation event that they will be holding later this month on Wednesday, February 20.

It won’t be much of a teaser if it revealed everything, so as you can imagine the video does not show much other than the four PlayStation button icons swirling around on the screen with the big date being displayed towards the end that doesn’t allude to anything. We know both the BlackBerry Z10 as well as the Q10 that were announced yesterday will be sold in black as well as white color options but RIM BlackBerry only had the black versions of both the devices on display.

Some lucky fans, however, managed to get a quick look at the white version of the BlackBerry Q10 at the BB10 fan event, which was spotted in the hands of BlackBerry’s Chief Marketing Officer Frank Boulben. Apple has been granted a trademark for the distinctive design of their chain of retail stores. Although the claim was rejected twice in the past, Apple managed to successfully convince the US Patent and Trademark office the third time with a lengthy, 122-page document detailing the reasons.

The trademark includes use of items such as a paneled facade of glass, recessed lighting units and lined rectangular tables, but as usual, the trademark is for the sum of parts rather than any individual item. Read more »

Following the rather modest success of the Tegra platform in the smartphone and tablet segment, it seems NVIDIA is now gunning for a bigger share of the pie, so far dominated by the likes of Qualcomm and Mediatek.
