‘Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour’ for iOS and Android game review

Gameloft’s Modern Combat series of games have gained a bit of infamy for being heavily based on Call of Duty games. Still, despite that fact, one can’t deny that these have always been some of the best first person shooters on mobile.

The last one, Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation was a particularly good game and with the latest one, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, Gameloft seems to have turned every dial to eleven to produce, at least on paper, one of the best first person shooters on the mobile platform. ‘Pudding Monsters’ for iOS and Android game review

Pudding Monsters is the latest game from the creators of the hit Cut the Rope series of games. It’s a 2D puzzle solving game that has wonderful little pudding monsters that you have to join together to form one large pudding monster.

HTC said to be working on Windows RT tablets

Earlier this year we heard that Microsoft allegedly denied HTC early access to Windows RT, the reason being that HTC does not have enough expertise in the matter and does not sell enough devices.

Now, Bloomberg is reporting that HTC is in fact working on Windows RT tablets, two of them to be precise. One of them is said to have a 12(!)-inch display and the other one will have a 7-inch display, along with the ability to make calls like several small Android tablets out there. Read more »

WhatsApp drops down to zero dollars on the App Store

Popular instant messaging service WhatsApp has made their iOS client free of cost for a limited time. Unlike on other platforms, the iOS version of WhatsApp has an upfront cost of $0.99 for the client.

WhatsApp is available on several other platforms, including Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry OS, Symbian and even Nokia Series 40. However, on other platforms, the application is free to download and use for a year, after which there is a $0.99 yearly fee. Read more »

Ouya announces ten upcoming titles for the console

Earlier this month, we talked about the Ouya console being ready to start shipping out to developers and Kickstarter backers. Now it’s time to talk about some of the games.

Ouya had planned a giveaway for ten developers, who would be getting the developer console for free, along with the software development kit. The ten developer names were announced on their Twitter account, along with the games that each of them are developing for OUYA. Read more »

‘Pudding Monsters’ is an adorable new game from the creators of ‘Cut the Rope’

ZeptoLab, creators of the popular Cut the Rope and Cut the Rope: Experiments games, have now released a brand new game for iOS and Android, called Pudding Monsters.

The objective of the game is to combine the adorable little Pudding Monsters by sliding them around and sticking them together and forming a Mega Monster to complete the level. The game uses the same lovable animation style with cutesy but beautiful graphics that we saw with the Cut the Rope games. Read more »

Tumblr releases iPad version of its iOS app

Tumblr has finally released an iPad version of its iOS application. Although the iPhone version has been available for a while now and was recently given a major facelift, the iPad version was nowhere to be found.

Among the new features is a UI optimized for the iPad’s bigger display. You get a navigation bar on the side that stays there permanently unlike on the iPhone version. Read more »

Instagram responds to outcry over the new Privacy Policy and ToS

Couple of days ago, popular social network Instagram announced their new Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which would be effective starting January 16, 2013.

Unfortunately for them, the new documents resulted in a major outcry from the users because they made it sound like Instagram would be using your photos to sell them to advertisers, which resulted in a lot of people deleting their accounts. Apple releases iOS 6.0.2 update to fix Wi-Fi issue

Apple has released the iOS 6.0.2 update for the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini. The only major change in this update is that it fixes the Wi-Fi bug that a lot of users were experiencing.

Since the iOS 6 update, several users reported unable to connect to their local Wi-Fi. The next update, iOS 6.0.1, was supposed to solve this issue and while it did for some users others continued to face it. Read more »

Google brings music matching to Google Play in the US

After the European launch last month, Google is now bringing the music match feature for the folks in the US. If you don’t know how this works, the service scans your local library and then adds those track to your online Google Play library so you can stream them later from anywhere.

This feature was already available on both iTunes and Amazon’s music service. Both these services are paid. Apple and Amazon charge $24.99 per year, which is not a bad deal when you consider what you’re getting but Google is offering an even better deal, where it’s free of cost, at least for the first 20,000 songs. Google releases YouTube Capture app for the iPhone and iPod touch

After being dropped out of iOS 6 by Apple, the YouTube app became a standalone application that had to be downloaded from the App Store. But one of the biggest shortcomings of this app was that it was meant only for content consumption, and there was no way to upload videos from it.

Google has now released a separate application for the iPhone and iPod touch, whose only purpose is recording videos and uploading them on YouTube. You can shoot and do quick editing to your videos from within the app itself or upload one of your existing videos. Read more »

Facebook app for Windows Phone updated with performance improvement

Microsoft has released a new version of Facebook app specifically for Windows Phone 8. In case you’re not aware, the Facebook app for Windows Phone is actually made by Microsoft, unlike the apps on iOS and Android, which are made by Facebook itself.

The new app mostly concentrates on the performance improvement, which is evident as soon as you launch the app, as everything from scrolling to opening pages is faster now. Other changes include support for multiple resolutions possible on Windows Phone 8 and multiple tile sizes. Read more »

‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’ for iOS and Android game review

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is the sixth game in the infamous Grand Theft Auto series of open world action games. The game was originally released on the PC and the consoles back in 2002.

Now, ten years later, Rockstar has ported the game over to iOS and Android. The Android version had a few hiccups out of the gate but since then things have been sorted. We decided to take a trip down the Vice City streets to see how the game holds up after ten years. Read more »

WhatsApp arrives on Windows Phone 8

Last week we told you that popular instant messaging service WhatsApp will soon be making an appearance on the new Windows Phone 8 platform, and it has.

WhatsApp is now available on devices running Windows Phone 8. As before, it’s free for the first year and then it’s $0.99 per year. The application is similar to the one on Windows Phone 7.5 in every way, which has also been updated to v2.8.10. Read more »
