Sony is now seeding the Android 4.2.2 update for the Wi-Fi only model of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. The LTE version of is already running on this firmware since the beginning of August.
The update brings lots of changes – it replaces the Tablet UI with Phone UI, and brings multi-user support, 64GB microSD card support, notification bar and new widgets. Read more »

Samsung seems to be preparing a Kids edition of its Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 slate. The tablet is called Galaxy Tab 3 Kids and will launch this September.
The specs of the customized Tab 3 Kids are identical to those of its vanilla sibling – it comes with a 7″ TFT display with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels, runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and features a 3MP camera, 1GB of RAM and 8GB expandable storage. Read more »

The Huawei Ascend P6 runs on a somewhat dated quad-core Cortex-A9 processor though Huawei says it did a lot to optimize its consumption. The low-power IPS display should be gentle on the 2000mAh battery as well, but we’ll have to see it to believe it. Read more »
Lenovo has recently became the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world with a 4.7% market share, just 0.3% less than LG in third. Lenovo’s success doesn’t end with its newly earned fourth place though.
According to the latest earnings report the Chinese company has sold more phones and tablets than personal computers for the first time in its history. If you think the achievement is not that impressive, you should note the fact Lenovo is currently world’s biggest PC manufacturer with 12+ million PCs shipped globally in the last quarter alone. Huawei Ascend P6 is widely advertised as the world’s slimmest smartphone to date. Indeed there is no thinner smartphone in our database so far and we just had to see it live. And here it is – the Ascend P6 knocking on our office doors.

A new update of the Extras + Info service app for Nokia Lumia brings options for call and SMS blocking. The update is available to all Windows Phone 8-powered Lumia smartphones, but the new functionality works only on those running on the GDR2 a.k.a. Amber update.
Thanks to new APIs coming with the WP8 GDR2 update, Nokia was able to add the call/SMS blocking functionality to its latest smartphones. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is part of the long list of Samsung devices that were destined to get the Android 4.2 according to an earlier leak. The wait for the owners of the slate is now over as Samsung has just started seeding the Android 4.2.2 update for it.
