With all the market rivalry, patent lawsuits and sly televisual marketing going on between Samsung and Apple, you’d be forgiven for thinking all ties between these two companies would have already been severed at this heavily tumultuous stage in their relationship, but at the end of the day business is business and both these big names know that need to work together to make money.
The likes of LG and Sharp were initially entrusted with creating displays for Apple’s newest tablet, set to touch down in a couple of days, but when they were unable to deliver due to manufacturing issues, Apple passed the task to Samsung who will now be producing the new iPad’s QXGA display panels (for the time being at least). Based on some educated estimations made by analysts at UBM TechInsights, a 16GB 4G LTE variant of Apple’s newest iPad should work out to about $310 in components.
This makes it the most expensive iPad Apple have had to manufacture to date, with the equivalent iPad 2 costing $276.27 and the original iPad costing $270.86 in parts. Read more »
It looks like Foxconn’s manufacturing plants have already finished the initial rounds of iPad 3s expected to grace the world in the coming months and word has it, Apple’s next tablet is already en route to the States.

Despite trawling all the way through the Fujitsu/Toshiba booth for anything out of the ordinary, we came up short. That was of course until we caught wind of this innocuous little tablet lurking somewhere in the halls at MWC.

Intel’s research teams have been hard at work bringing their latest project to fruition and what you see here is the fruits of their labour. CPU and a more power efficient and faster WiFi radio, both squeezed onto a single chip.

As of Thursday, Twitter opened up their self-serve advertising model to small businesses, allowing them to place ads on the company’s messaging platform, just as large businesses have been able to do since 2010.
Twitter have been looking for greater ways with which they can increase their advertising revenue, a step such as this will add a lot of value to a company already estimated to be worth $8 billion. Read more »
