First it was the ordinary version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the white back cover. Then at Google’s I/O 2011 conference, Samsung gave away almost 5000 Galaxy Tab 10.1 Special Edition to the attendees, which had a specially illustrated back cover with Android robots.
In both cases too white for your taste? Lacking the business feel and class you seek? Samsung will be offering a Galaxy Tab 10.1 with a stylish metallic back cover suitable for, well, anyone not liking the white one. Read more »
Don’t worry we haven’t lost the plot, we know the NGP was never an Android device to begin with. However, there were rumors that a little cross-pollination was occurring.
That is to say, with the NGP’s downloadable content infrastructure, there were those wondering whether it could take advantage of the same apps in use by the Xperia PLAY. Read more »
We caught wind of a pretty beefy looking tablet coming up over the horizon from Toshiba at CES 2011 and it reared its head again a couple of weeks back. Twitter even gave us a name courtesy of some chatty actors starring in what was expected to be its TV ad debut, the ‘Thrive’ and now said mysterious tab is officially here, almost.
The Thrive is now the confirmed name for Toshiba’s big tablet and pre-sales kick off as soon as next week! Read more »
You know that LG is really the master when it comes to funny comparative advertisements. Just like they did in the ad of the LG Optimus Pad fighting an Apple iPad, now they released an even better one, this time focusing on the LG Optimus Black.
In the ad, the LG Optimus Black is in a race against some interestingly named phones. On the starting grid are Waffle’s Ivan (iPhone 4), Samson’s Gary S Jr. (Samsung Galaxy S II), Sonic’s Archie (Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play), Hightech’s Dwayne (HTC HD2). Read more »

Google has decided to dip its toe in the water and now the +1 button is available for publishers, bloggers and basically everyone to put on their websites.
The button, as you may remember, was found only on Google’s search results page, but as it turns out the search giant is taking it one step further. Rather than waiting for you to search a page, figure it’s useful and then “+1″ it, Google lets publishers take the initiative and allow people to recommend their website right on it. Read more »
You must remember the picture of the pink Nokia N8 that came out a few days back. You must because it’s difficult to get something that gaudy out of your mind in such short time. But Nokia isn’t relying on just the color to shock you. They have gone ahead and made a video complete with tattooed dolls with necks that turn 360-degree, an N8 that shoot lazers and dismembered dolls limbs. And you thought Sony’s ads are weird.
As you can see below, the video is pretty, uh, interesting. You don’t see much of the phone itself as you’d want to meaning this is all just viral marketing and Nokia’s attempt at keeping interest in the N8 going. But we think they should spend more time focusing on showcasing the upcoming Anna update for the N8 instead of dolls doing unspeakable things with it while the Sugarbabes play in the background (admittedly that’s the least offensive part of the video). Microsoft showed off its progress with Windows 8 at the D9 Conference as promised. A 4 minute video demonstrates how they’ve broken away from the interface that has been slowly evolving since Windows 1.0 and they’ve gone for something that looks a lot like Windows Phone 7.
The major change here is the Start screen – that’s right, gone is the iconic Start menu, replaced with a tile-based screen, much like the WP7 one. Instead of shortcuts, apps get a tile, which they can use to display various relevant info. Read more »

It appears to be make or break time for Android tablets as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 nears market release. With the XOOM failing to convince and the availability of the Transformer too limited to make any kind of impact this should be the one to show if the Google Team will make it in the Apple league this year.
After all if a device this slim and functional and with such powerful hardware can’t leave a customer satisfied then there could only be one conclusion – the OS is not ready yet. Read more »
