Samsung put a number of exclusive features on their high-end Android devices, like Smart Stay and Smart Rotate. Now, using the GMD Smart Rotate app you can replicate both of those features on a non-TouchWiz device (or on a lower-end Samsung).

The free version of the app implements Smart Rotate – it uses the front-facing camera instead of the accelerometer to rotate the screen. The advantage is that there are situations where the accelerometer gets it wrong – e.g. when you’re lying on your side or if the phone/tablet is on a flat surface. Read more »

It’s been a year since we first saw LG’s massive 55-inch OLED TV. The television was then showcased to a wider audience at CES, where it dazzled onlookers with its picture quality and amazingly thin design and even managed to nab the Best of Show at CES 2012 award.

Samsung has announced the Series 7 SC770 touch monitor, the first of its kind by Samsung. The monitor has been designed with Windows 8 in mind and has a multi-touch display that supports up to 10 touch points at a time.

The monitor also has a adjustable stand that allows you to tilt the display up to 60 degrees, making it easier to use the touchscreen. The 24-inch panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a viewing angle of 178 degrees. Read more »

The Do Not Disturb mode introduced with Apple’s latest iOS 6 appears to have a serious bug. Since the turn of the year, it stopped functioning as promised and prevented quite a lot of people from getting their calls and messages.

The DND feature allows you to set a period of time when your iPhone will stop alerting you of incoming calls, messages and notifications. It doesn’t affects the alarms though. Read more »

Other than being a great game, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV for PC is also known for being extremely moddable, with a ton of mods released since the game was released back in the day. iCEnhancer has been one of them and focuses mainly on the game’s visuals. And what a job it does.

With the release of the v2.5 Alpha, the developers have turned the eye-candy all the way up to almost photorealistic levels. The textures, the lighting and the reflections are at a whole new level altogether, with some motion blur and depth of field added for good measure. Read more »

Old school gamers here will probably remember Karateka very well. Created by Jordan Mechner, the same guy who created the original Prince of Persia game, Karateka is one of the most popular 8-bit games of all time.

Now, 28 years after the game first debuted on an Apple II, the original developer, along with a small team, has created a remake for the Xbox, PS3, PC and iOS. The game is based on the same basic premise as the original but features revised rhythm-based gameplay and completely reworked visuals. But will it be able to recreate the magic of the original?
