Intel’s fourth-gen Intel Core processors promise all day battery life

At the press day before CES 2013 officially kicks off Intel unveiled its fourth-generation Intel Core processor, which will reportedly be able to extend the battery life of latest mobile PCs to 9 hours.

Formerly known as Haswell the new chipset is made with ultrabooks-slash-tablets in mind and could reach 13 hours of battery when docked to a keyboard. Read more »

Kingston is readying a 1 TB USB flash drive that’s no bigger than your thumb.

Dead Trigger 2 scheduled to arrive in Q2, to feature Tegra 4 optimizations

Madfinger Games’ sequel to the popular zombie shooter game Dead Trigger looks to be slated for a Q2 2013 release, according to the company’s Twitter feed.

The game is also to be one of the first to be released on Nvidia’s new Tegra 4 SoC, and will feature a THD version designed specifically for Tegra-based Android tablets. Read more »

The iOS 6 Do Not Disturb feature fixes itself [UPDATE: Still not working]

The iOS 6 DND feature is working again, just as Apple promised a few days ago. There was no update, though – the Do Not Disturb mode just fixed itself.

UPDATE: As it turned out, despite the DND mode now turns on and off as scheduled, it doesn’t work and you will continue to receive all notifications. Now Apple need to release an update and the next time should do more tests before coming up with an official statement. Read more »

App Store hits 40 billion downloads, has 775,000 apps already

Apple might not be attending CES, but it still had an important announcement to make today. The official iOS app repository has crossed the 40 billion downloads mark. Having more than half a billion user accounts, the App Store has delivered almost half of those apps in the last year alone, showing impressive exponential growth.

Currently there are 775,000 apps available at the App Store, including 300,000 apps optimized for the iPad’s larger screen. There was no exact information on the number of apps, which make full use of the taller iPhone 5 screen and the high-res iPads with Retina screens, though. Read more »

Vizio announces 7″ Tegra 3 and 10″ Tegra 4 Android 4.2 tablets

CES 2013 tablet announcements continue to pour in, and the latest pair comes courtesy of Vizio, which unveiled pretty exciting 7″ and 10″ slates .

Acer has just introduced the latest addition to its lineup of Android-running tablets. The new slate is called the rather peculiar B1-A71 and will cost about €119 after taxes. This will make it the most affordable Android 4.1 Jelly Bean slate from a big manufacturer.

That kind of money buys you a 7″ display of WSVGA resolution (1024 x 600 pixels), a 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek processor and 8GB of storage, expandable via a microSD card slot. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity are also available as well as a front-facing camera and a standard microUSB port. Read more »
