The Phiaton Moderna MS 200 are the Korean manufacturer’s top of the line in-ear headphones. Made from exotic materials such as carbon fiber and featuring eye-catching design, the headphones aim to offer enough value for money to sway you away from the offerings of the well-established premium brands.

This not the first time I’m spending quality time with a Phiaton product. A couple of months back, I was impressed by the Phiaton PS 210 BTNC wireless headset. A photo of what looks to be the front panel of the upcoming fifth-gen Apple iPad has surfaced today, giving us a hint of what the upcoming slate might look like.

Nokia’s HAAC recording technology allows you to record audio with great sound quality

Nokia’s recent innovation known as High Amplitude Audio Capture (HAAC), allows you to record audio in noisy locations and then reproduce the audio with minimal background noise.

The novelty behind the High Amplitude Audio Capture is a microphone with two different sensitivity levels for recording. Later, the dual channel combines to give a broad dynamic range that sounds clear even if the audio is recorded with lots of distortion. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the most feature-rich smartphones around, and it duly packs a wide array of sensors. Samsung published an image that explains what each sensor does and what feature uses it.

There are the standard sensors that have been around since smartphones first appeared, like an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer and proximity sensor. But then there are unusual sensors like a humidity sensor (used by S Health to calculate “comfort level”), and others. Read more »

Samsung is launching a new wave of teaser ads for the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the UK. The first one tells the S4 story in 60 seconds, running though the major features and qualities of the new flagship. All this is accompanied by orchestral music to spice things up.

Viber launches on BlackBerry OS 5 and OS 7

Viber has launched its popular free service on BlackBerry’s aging OS 5 and OS 7, letting you send free messages and do free voice calls over 3G and Wi-Fi networks.

Viber is already available on Android, BlackBerry OS 10, iOS, Nokia’s S40 Series and Symbian OS, and Windows Phone. Read more »

Acer allegedly working on a $149 quad-core tablet

Taiwanese-based Acer has joined a growing list of manufacturers allegedly working on an iPad Mini competitor. According to a report from DigiTimes, the rumored tablet will also compete against the likes of Google Nexus 7 in terms of pricing.

Chrome for iOS update brings fullscreen mode, wireless printing

Google has updated the Chrome browser for iOS with a couple of useful new features. The first is a fullscreen mode for the iPhone and iPod touch. This works much the same way as on some other browsers, where the toolbox on top moves out of the screen when you scroll down. Scrolling back up brings it back to the screen.

The second addition is the option to do wireless printing, using either the Google Cloud Print service or Apple’s AirPrint. Lastly, you can now also save any web page as PDF on Google Drive through the browser. Read more »

Google Play Music is now available in seven new countries

Google expanded its Play Music service available to a new batch of countries – Austria, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, and Portugal.This is the largest expansion Google has done to Play Music to date, making up the list of countries with access to the service to 12

People living there can now upload their existing music library as well as purchase new songs through the service and build up a library of up to 20,000 songs. Read more »

Samsung announces ATIV Book 6 Windows 8 notebook, arriving shortly in the US

After the ATIV series of Windows-based tablets and smartphone, Samsung is now launching a series of notebooks under the same brand name. The first of the lot is the ATIV Book 6 note book, which will be releasing in the US shortly.

The ATIV Book 6 runs Windows 8 and has a 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080 resolution touchscreen. Inside it has a quad-core Intel Core i7 CPU, AMD Radeon HD8770M GPU, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. Read more »

Batman: Arkham Origins arriving on PC, PS3, Xbox and Wii U on October 25, 2013

Warner Bros. Games Montreal have announced the newest installment in the highly popular and critically acclaimed series of Batman games. After Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Arkham Origins will be the third game in the series, however, it will serve as the prequel to the first two, as you can guess from the name.

Arkham Origins takes place several years before the events of Arkham Asylum and features a much younger Batman, facing his enemies for the first time. The two main antagonists of the game are Black Mask and Deathstroke, with the former being more prominent of the two. The game will take place within Arkham City like the previous one. Read more »

Nokia Lumia 720 comes for a visit, thinks it’s better than its older siblings

The Nokia Lumia 720 came back for some more face time after our brief encounter at the MWC. The phone is similar to the Lumia 820 and it actually offers better specs in a few categories. For one, its screen can detect your fingers even through gloves. The curved Gorilla Glass 2 and ClearBlack tech make the 4.3” WVGA screen very good if not quite as nice as the 820’s AMOLED display.

There’s more too – the Lumia 720 is 9mm thick, the thinnest Lumia yet but it has a 2,000mAh battery, larger than the one in the the thicker and heavier 820. Also, the F/1.9 aperture on the camera is the brightest we’ve seen on a mobile phone yet. Read more »

Google has just announced it’s launching an update for the Play Store for phones and tablets. The major feature of the new release is the refreshed user interface.

In the official Android blog, Google states that the main focus on the Play Store redesign is to allow users to find content more easily. To do so, there are now bigger images, new recommendations and faster checkout. Read more »

Microsoft to issue GDR3 Windows Phone 8 update by the end of the year, support for 1080p displays in tow

Microsoft is preparing an update to Windows Phone 8 that’s going to include support for 1080p displays, according to sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans for its mobile platform.

The Verge reports that new devices will also be announced alongside the upcoming Windows Phone 8 update in times for the holidays. They’ll not only be featuring 1080p displays, but also QUalcomm’s quad-core CPUs. Read more »
