Google introduces Facebook-like Google+ comments integration into Blogger

Google has recently enabled Google+ integration into their popular blog-publishing service, Blogger.

Microsoft sees net income grow in the past quarter, beats estimates

Microsoft turned in its report card for the first quarter of the year (which is the third quarter on the company’s financial calendar). The total revenue for the quarter was $20.49 billion with net income growing to $6.06 billion, 19% up from the same quarter the previous year. That was a bit better than analysts predicted.

The company’s CFO, Peter Klein, mentioned that Windows 8 will be coming to smaller devices (presumably with the 8.1 Blue update), but said nothing about Microsoft branding one of them as a Surface device (the rumor mill thinks has it that there is a 7” Surface in the pipeline). Read more »

Trailer for Iron Man 3 game from Gameloft promises to put you in control of 18 different suits

The premiere of Iron Man 3 is just around the corner (May 3 in the US and even earlier in Europe), but you’ll get to play a virtual Tony Stark a few days early with Gameloft’s Iron Man 3 game. In it you’ll be able to develop and fly around in 18 different suits.

Instagram en route to Windows Phone (again), says official Nokia Sweden on Facebook

We’ve heard about this before but it doesn’t hurt to mention it yet again – Instagram is coming to Windows Phone. So says the official Nokia Sweden account on Facebook in response to one user. The response reads roughly like this – “Instagram is on the way but can’t give an exact date right now”. The comment has been taken down, which does add an air of legitimacy to the information (or just the opposite, depending how you look at it).

Last month, a Nokia Sweden account tweeted that an app for WP is under development, which fueled the users expectations. The question is – do Windows Phone users really care if Instagram is coming? Read more »

Photo of alleged front-facing camera of the next iPhone hits the web

The iPhone 5S is yet to be seen in whole, but various alleged parts are already making the rounds on the Internet. The latest is a look at the front-facing camera of the next Apple phone, along with another unidentified component.

The photos of the components come from Japanese retailer Moumantai. The front-facing camera is compared against that of the current model, the iPhone 5. Read more »

Facebook starts rolling out voice calling support for Android Messenger users in US

Facebook had earlier updated its iOS app with the voice calling feature, which had allowed the users to make free calls from US to Canada. Now, the social networking giant has started to roll out the voice calling support features to its Messenger users in US.

Twitter announces Twitter #music

Last week we reported on the rumors of Twitter releasing its own music streaming service, which were backed by the music.twitter.com website which went live around that time but wasn’t quite functional back then. Now the service has been announced officially and is called Twitter #music.

At the heart of this service is the brand new app, which is currently only available on iOS, that too just on the iPhone. This app pulls all the tracks that are being listened by the people you follow by going through their tweets and also shows what other people are listening. Read more »

Leaked plastic iPhone casing hints at a budget Apple smartphone

Chatter about a budget iPhone has increased in past months, and now a photo of a plastic iPhone casing has emerged online pouring even more fuel into that particular rumor fire.

The plastic shell has a glossy white finish and features all the necessary cuttings for the camera, LED flash, volume rocker and silent mode button. The source of the rumor says that the shell measures 0.4-0.6mm thick and is “likely” bigger than the iPhone 4/4S. Read more »

AllWinner reveals new chipsets with dual and quad-core Cortex-A7 processors

Android sticks and ultra-cheap tablets are often powered by an AllWinner chipset, typically one using an old Cortex-A8 CPU design. The Chinese chipmaker has now updated its lineup with three new chipsets based on the new and power-efficient Cortex-A7.

One chip of particular interest, the AllWinner A20, packs a dual-core A7 CPU, which is up to 5 times more power efficient and offers 50% better performance than the A8. It’s fully certified to run Android 4.2.2 as well. Read more »

List of ARM big.LITTLE licensees grows, will we see Cortex-A15 in affordable chipsets?

New companies have joined ARM’s initiative to build powerful but efficient chipsets using the big.LITTLE architecture. A total of 17 companies have licenses to build chipsets that combine the powerful Cortex-A15 with the efficient Cortex-A7.

ARM didn’t provide a list of the newcomers, but among the companies with a big.LITTLE license are names like MediaTek and HiSilicon. MediaTek are best known for the chipsets in mid-range smartphones from smaller companies and HiSilicon is behind Huawei’s custom chips. Read more »
