Rovio has released a new game for iOS and Android called Tiny Thief, the first game to come out of the Rovio Stars initiative. The game is now available for download on the App Store and the Play Store for $2.99.

Tiny Thief is a puzzle solving game, involving the adventures of a thief who is trying to escape from the authorities. It’s a point-and-click (or tap, in this case) game, where you interact with objects on screen by tapping on them and solving the puzzles. Google has updated the Android version of the Chrome browser with some useful new features. Chrome now has a fullscreen mode on tablets, which means the toolbar on top hides when you scroll down, a feature that was present on smartphones before and is now on tablets as well.

Another useful addition is the translate feature that was present on the desktop version of Chrome. Now if you open a page that is in a different language from your system language, the browser will offer to translate it for you. Read more »

Drobpox is holding its first developer conference today dubbed DBX where the company’s CEO announced that the cloud storage service is now responsible for the files of 175 million users. They are syncing more than a billion files every day. Impressive, indeed.

According to a research conducted by StatCounter, Samsung smartphones have overtaken Apple iPhones and iPod Touches in web browsing for June and now account for 25.5% of worldwide pageviews. Apple is still close behind at 25.1%, though.

Microsoft has released a new ad to promote its Windows 8 tablets. The latest ad, which goes by the name “Baseball”, talks up the multi-tasking abilities of a Windows 8 tablet by comparing them against those of the Apple’s iPad.

Google Latitude will be officially retiring on August 9. Related products in Google Maps for Android, Latitude for iPhone, the Latitude API, the public badge, the iGoogle Gadget and the Latitude website will no longer be available in a month.

The retirement of Google Latitude means that you will no longer be able to share your location using the latitude and Google hasn’t included latitude as a feature in its latest version of Google Maps for Android. Kirik SD File Viewer, the first file viewer for the Windows Phone is now available in the Windows Phone Store. The app lets you open and view files and folders on your memory card.

Google has started rolling out an update to the Maps application on Android, which brings it to version 7.0.0. The biggest change in this update is a refreshed UI, which was first displayed back at the Google I/O 2013 event.

The updated UI brings the Android version of the app in line with the iOS version, along with the new beta of the web version. There is a new, always visible floating search bar on top, which isn’t really any quicker to use but has slightly more functionality built-in, namely the ability to quickly set a navigation route and look up contact details.
