The middle name of Samsung’s Galaxy devices is “value-added”. The latest batch of tablets fresh from CES, the Pro lineup, are getting a list of goodies so complex it comes in table form. That’s for the new Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 tablet, but also the Galaxy Tab Pro tablets (12.2, 10.1 and 8.4).

Spotify had announced a free music streaming service to all its Android users, which allowed them to access millions of songs without having to pay anything. Now, as promised, Spotify is offering free music to all its iOS consumers as well.

Toshiba is developing a new CMOS image sensor technology named “Bright Mode” that is capable of shooting Full HD videos at 240 frames per second on your smartphones and tablets.

Toshiba’s newest technology manages to secure more than double the normal exposure time by adapting to interlaced video output, so as to record videos at high frame rates. Read more »

Gaming company Razer famous for its gaming mice, keyboards, headphones and a gaming laptop, has announced at CES 2014 its latest endeavour – the Nabu wristband. The company calls the Nabu a smartband, as it connects to your smartphone and feeds you all sorts of notifications in addition to pulling off some fitness tracking duties.

The Nabu is a rubber wristband that holds two displays. While carrying the Nabu, the front screen will be the one you’ll quickly glance at for not so private notifications, while the secondary screen is on the back of the wristband. To see it, you have to twist your wrist on the side – it’s useful for reading SMS messages, for example. Read more »

The FLIR One is a case for the iPhone that comes with both thermal imaging and visible light cameras. The thermal imaging unit allows for some pretty cool night vision viewing and snapshot opportunities that are currently unavailable on smartphones. Microsoft’s Xbox Music service launched on Android and iOS last year, but lacked one feature many users were longing for.

Apple is now seeding iOS beta 3 to developers. The good news is that the latest update still doesn’t patch the exploit used by the recent evasi0n7 jailbreak.

Apple has been pretty strict about jailbreaking and even though it’s legal (in the US at least), it’s frowned upon by the company and they use every opportunity they get to close any exploits that the jailbreakers find as soon as possible. Read more »

Samsung and BMW have collaborated on a rather cool use for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. At CES 2014, Samsung showcased a specially developed application, which connects to the BMW i3′s “i Remote Application” allowing it to control some of the car’s functions and give you status information.

The Galaxy Gear will be able to show information of the BMW i3 such as door and window status (opened or closed), battery charge levels and drivable range. Read more »

Sony has launched a new ultra short throw projector that is able to produce a 4K resolution image at up to 147-inches.

A Bluetooth SIG listing that popped up today suggests that HP is planning on releasing its own phablet: the HP Slate 6 Voice Tab. Deemed a “voice tablet”, and with a screen measuring 6 inches, it’s safe to assume that HP is trying to get into the gigantic smartphone game.

The speculation becomes more interesting coupled with stories of HP purportedly working to distribute two tablets, 7 and 6 inches respectively, in developing markets for under $250 each. If HP does indeed sell a 6-inch Android phablet for under $250 SIM-free, it could certainly perk up some ears in the smartphone world. Read more »

Late last year we heard about Audi and Google’s partnership to provide an in-car infotainment system powered by Android.

Google has since unveiled its Open Automotive Alliance, and their new partnership with Audi has resulted in a specially designed tablet optimized for in-car use, but also can be taken outside the car as a fully-functioning standalone device. Read more »
