Google’s apps for iOS so far have ranged from mediocre to downright lame. A lot of them were just the mobile versions of their mobile site with a slight redesign to fool the users into thinking they are using a proper app and not just a mobile site. But their latest Google Search app changes all that.

The quad-core Transformer Prime is all but official by now but Asus have went that extra distance and setup a dedicated product page for their premium slate over at their website complete with specs and features.
And if you’re a UK resident, not so keen on quad-core and think dual-core is good enough, you’re in luck as the first-gen Transformer just got a special price cut in some retail shops (Best Buy and HMV) for the 16GB model – now starting at £299 (80 quid lower than the launch asking price). Tablets are what everyone wants for Christmas and several millions are bound to fly off the shelves in the following month and a half. RIM obviously wants to make sure that their PlayBook will get a proper share of the fun and is even willing to cut down on its profits to achieve it.
The Canadian company just announced that its PlayBook slate will be available for $199 for a limited time in selected US and Canada retailers. Yeah, the BlackBerry PlayBook can run Android apps, big deal – can it run DOS apps though? The answer is yes, yes it can – Prince of Persia, Wolfenstein 3D, Lion King and even Windows 3.11 all run on the PlayBook thanks to the efforts of self professed (ab)users over at the CrackBerry forums.

Looking at all the leaks that come out of HTC, whoever is in charge of keeping secrets there is obviously doing a very poor job. The latest leak is the upcoming tablet from HTC called the HTC Quattro. It’s a 10.1-inch tablet and will have the new quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. This is probably the same tablet we heard about a few days back.
The device will be running Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and have 16GB internal memory, 1GB of RAM, 8 megapixel camera, Beats audio and will come in 3G and Wi-Fi editions. The tablet is said to be only 9mm thick but there are already thinner tablets out on the market. Read more »
We just got word on what might be the next big thing in the tablet world. Or rather things, as the leak involves two Android-running slates. Acer Iconia Tab A701 and Iconia Tab A700 are a couple of monster devices running on the Tegra 3 chipset, featuring a quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU.
Yet we feel that the displays of the two slates will be what proves to be their key selling point. We are talking 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution here. That’s FullHD in 16:10 aspect, which is unprecedented in the tablet world. Read more »
When Apple sent its legal team after Samsung in Germany for copying the design of their iPad the German court responded by granting an injunction to Apple, which prevented Samsung from selling their Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the German markets.
However, Samsung has no intention of going down without a fight, so it responded with the only way it can at this point, by changing the design of their Galaxy Tab. Read more »
Poor Amazon Kindle Fire was subjected to both physical and psychological attacks – there’s already a one-click rooting tool for it and the 7″ tablet was disassembled by people curios to see what’s inside.

It’s episode three of our new battery test and we have the Samsung Galaxy Note starring this time. The phoneblet has a 2500 mAh battery, which is much larger than that of the average smartphone, but it also has a very power-hungry 5.3″ screen.
As a direct result, the Samsung Galaxy Note’s performance in our test was quite unusual. While it got a monstrous score on the telephony part, its web browsing endurance were quite disappointing. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Read more »
IDC queried devs that use the Appcelerator platform and has some very interesting stats to share. The Nokia/Microsoft dual effort to attract developers is paying off – Windows Phone comes out as the third most desirable mobile platform to develop for (a big thing, considering WP7′s limited market share).
Also, Amazon’s new Kindle Fire is stirring things up in the Android tablet world, overtaking the Samsung Galaxy Tab in the US as the Android tablet most devs are interested in working for. Read more »
Adobe has just unleashed its range of Touch Apps on Android for all the creative people out there who want to use their tablets for more than just content consumption. These apps will be a key component in Adobe’s upcoming Creative Cloud service that will be released next year, that will allow sharing and viewing of the content created using these apps on multiple devices.
Yesterday, the Wi-Fi-only model of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 received the Android 3.2 Honeycomb update.. Unfortunately, instead of making things better, it made them worse. The update caused devices to lose Wi-Fi connectivity and since this is the Wi-Fi only model we are talking about here, that actually means a complete loss of Internet connectivity.
Other problems caused by the update include loss of Bluetooth connectivity and failure of the display auto-rotate function. Read more »
CES 2012? Psh, Lenovo is better than that apparently, as reportedly, they are going to launch an Ice Cream Sandwich running Tegra 3 tablet by the end of the year.
According to a tipster who sent a bunch of live photos of the said slate to Engadget, the device packs some serious horsepower under the hood. For starters, we mysterious Lenovo tablet will have the brand new quad-core Tegra 3 SoC bundled with not one, but two gigabytes of 1,600 MHz DDR3 RAM. Read more »
Tegra 3 tablets look to be on the rise today. First there are the live photos of the highly anticipated ASUS Transformer Prime, then there’s the rumor of an HTC Tegra 3 tablet arriving at MWC 2012 and now a leaked User-agent profile specifications indicate that Acer are to launch a successor to the Iconia Tab 500 at next year’s CES.
The tablet in question will carry the model name A510 and as far as its leaked specs are concerned it’s not going to be exactly
