A little after Samsung’s new Siri-killer app S Voice leaked, the South Korean company blocked it on non-Galaxy S III devices. Now that restriction seems to have been lifted as the app started working again, even on phones by other manufacturers.

Since last year, HTC started giving users the option to unlock the bootloader on their phones if that is what they wished for. However, the AT&T One X was not part of the list of handsets for which HTC is offering the unlock. The reason for this was widely believed to be AT&T, although HTC never actually officially mentioned that.

Of course, it was only a matter of time before the people at xda-developers, who view restrictions as hurdles instead of a dead ends, managed to get the phone unlocked and as usual they have come through. Read more »

When Nokia partnered with Microsoft to make Windows Phone as their primary smartphone platform, they also mentioned that this partnership will run a lot deeper than simply installing Windows Phone on their devices. It would be a two-way street, with both companies bringing something to the table.

Facebook has released a brand new Facebook Camera app for the iPhone. The app is completely separate from the main Facebook app and concentrates only on capturing, sharing and viewing photos on Facebook.

After a barrage of mediocre apps for iOS, Google has finally started to take the platform and its users seriously. Two weeks ago we saw the new Google+ for iOS, which not only bests its Android counterpart but also the stock Twitter and Facebook apps by a mile.

Rumors have been flying around about a version of Microsoft Office for the iOS for a while now but now BGR is reporting that not only will there be a version of Office for iOS but also for Android and both will be launching together in November.

This information comes from one of their sources who has seen the application running on an iPad and says that it looks identical to the one we have seen before. After that image first came out, Microsoft later said that the screenshot in the picture was fake but The Daily, who leaked the screenshot, said it was authentic and that it was someone from Microsoft who demoed it to them. First Flipboard lost its Galaxy S III exclusivity and is currently available for all Androids, now S Voice and various apps and widgets from the Galaxy S III followed suit.

The credit for leaking the highly anticipated S Voice goes to XDA member PlaYOuT, who extracted it and made it available for everyone’s downloading pleasure. Mozilla has released a new beta version of the Firefox browser for Android and it brings with it some major changes. The biggest one of all is that the app is written in Java, which is native to Android, instead of the Mozilla developed XUL used on the previous versions. Due to this, you can expect some major improvements in the performance of the app.

Other big change is the new UI, which looks a lot better. It has what Mozilla calls the ‘Awesome Screen’. It’s very similar to the screen you see in Chrome for Android, with the address bar at the top, thumbnails for frequently visited sites below and right at the bottom a list of recently closed tabs. Within a week of Google releasing an update for its iOS mobile app, Facebook too has released an update for its mobile apps and website that changes the way posts are displayed.

The posts are no longer displayed in a contiguous manner but instead appear in their own separate boxes. But most importantly, images now appear 3x bigger than before and span from edge to edge. Albums are also bigger now and show thumbnails for the contained images arranged in a single large grid. But with the introduction of Siri on the iPhone 4S everyone could suddenly have a personal butler to boss around. Shortly afterwards, a plethora of Android variations followed, giving users choice as wide as the Moon.

The latest one of the bunch is called S Voice. It is a love child of Samsung’s hate towards Apple and desire to pack as many features as possible in the Galaxy S III. Instagram released an Android version of their app last month, but it has always trailed behind the iOS version. Initially, it didn’t even work on most phones and even if it did, it lacked some features found on the iOS version.

The app has been constantly updated ever since it was released and with the latest update it comes closest to matching its iOS counterpart.
