Samsung announces the mirrorless NX20, NX210 and NX1000, Wi-Fi-enabled digicams

by 6 comments

If you’ve missed it, the Samsung NX series comprises of cameras that use a big-size sensor and mirror-less technology. The new cameras include the NX20, which replaces the NX10, then the NX210, which replaces last year’s NX200, and an entirely new entry level model, the NX1000. All the three new digicams have 20.3MP APS-C sized CMOS sensors, an ISO range up to 12,800, 1080/30p video recording and yes, Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Wi-Fi connectivity allows the cameras some nifty “Smart Camera” capabilities, such as automatically backing-up images when you’re around your home Wi-Fi network, but also control of the camera via a ‘remote viewfinder’ app on your smartphone. And finally, direct uploading to online social and cloud-drive services. You can have your photos emailed or posted on Facebook directly from the camera, for instance… Impressive stuff, especially having in mind that the NX series produces some serious quality pics thanks to the big image sensor and nice optics. Like we already mentioned above, the rest of the HTC Titan II specifications are identical with the ones, found in its predecessor. Read more »

Latest iPhone 4S ads feature Zooey Deschanel and Samuel L. Jackson

by 45 comments

Apple doesn’t usually hire celebrities to endorse their products. In fact, the last time I remember they hired somewhat popular actors was in their Get a Mac series of ads with Justin Long and John Hodgman back in 2009. So it’s curious to see popular actress Zooey Deschanel and all-round badass Samuel L. Jackson in the latest iPhone 4S commercials airing in the US.

Both the ads revolve around Siri, with the actors finding out things and getting things done using only their voice. It’s the usual stuff, like finding out a restaurant nearby, settings or cancelling reminders, and playing music. Stuff that we have seen before in older 4S ads, except this time it’s a bit special because of the actors. Read more »

Did Steve Wozniak pick up a Nokia Lumia 900?

by 125 comments

Well, people, it looks like that massive marketing budget, backing the AT&T exclusive Nokia Lumia 900 is starting to pay some serious dividends. No other but Apple’s co-founder Steve Wozniak might have picked one up, according to his own tweet from earlier today.

While this is not the first time Steve has had a chance to sample the competition (he got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus as a gift when he visited Google’s HQ a few months back), I can’t recall any reports of him actually waiting for a store to open for anything other than an Apple product. Read more »

by 32 comments

The materials for Nokia’s flagship and blockbuster Lumia 900 cost $209, according to iSuppli’s preliminary teardown assessment.

That, iSuppli reckons, is a result of the Lumia 900′s cost-reduced design and the close cooperation between Microsoft, Qualcomm and Nokia, which mimics Apple’s approach to device development. Read more »

HTC One S battery life testing is complete, here’s how power-efficient the two Krait cores are

by 75 comments

We wanted to publish the HTC One S review as soon as possible so we had to do without the battery test (which takes a lot of time to complete). It’s done now and we’re ready to share it with you – especially since HTC doesn’t quote official numbers for the One S battery life.

We were very curious to see how the new chipset, part of the Snapdragon S4 family, performs compared to the old S3 models. It’s built on a 28nm process, which should offer much better power-efficiency than the 45nm process of the S3 chipsets. Read more »

The greek tech site PostPC has managed to get its hands on the Optimus 3D Max and put it under some benchmark tests to see how it performs.
